A Note from Gloria - November 2010
November 2010
by Gloria Machamer
When we arrive on the mission field we begin making the many preparations needed to schedule and organize our tour groups’ visits to prisons, schools, churches, hospitals, clinics, orphanages, etc.
We immediately set up a type of communications command and distribution center so that all the planned programs receive the quality attention that they deserve. It is necessary to establish a warm and courteous relationship with the administrators and the heads of the facilities we want our teams to visit so that all the people we touch feel the love of Jesus that we have to share.
There are many meetings to attend and phone calls to be made that will bring about the anticipated result—souls being touched with the Jesus touch, souls being changed and made righteous in Christ. Perfect timing is necessary in scheduling our various programs because all our activities must be kept in balance with the main thrust of our tour—the crusade services. More often than not, we must work closely with the local translators so our many endeavors are understood properly. Our relationships with these precious workers become a Jesus love-bond not too soon be forgotten; and when we eventually leave their nation, the love-bond is even more apparent—they have become our family in the Lord.
Personal contact with the people is vital as we visit the many different institutions and share the Gospel of our Lord. We love to not only meet the people, but we also gladly offer prayer as well as gifts our church members have lovingly made for us to share. Our teams are usually made up of four to six members that include both men and women. Prior to our travel date our members seek the Lord in prayer, fasting and living in the Word of God so they can yield themselves totally to the love task at hand.
One of my favorite jobs—if you may call it a job—is to set up libraries wherever we go. We are always well received and the people open up their hearts to accommodate us and to make us feel very welcome. In fact, we have come to realize that most of the people we contact have never felt the depth of the love that is conveyed to them through our smiles, our compassion and our methods of giving away the Gospel materials—we distribute all our literature to them free with “no strings” attached.
We have no greater gift to give than the gift of Jesus in all His love and power. The Jesus treasure we carry with us is the answer to all their needs, and we are always so anxious to witness all the Lord will do for them.
Soon, we will be traveling to the mission field once again, and our preparation work here at home base has been going on for several months; we are like busy bees preparing the honey for delivery. Help us pray and fast so God’s work can continue across the globe and in all nations before His soon return. And please never forget that you are special to God and to this Jesus ministry.
