Making godly decisions is fundamental to our success in the Lord. Godly decisions lead to life, and ungodly decisions can lead to death. A decision is a resolution you come to after consideration, so what is the basis of your considerations? Who or what are you trusting as a reliable source of information? There is only one source to consider if you want to make godly decisions, and that is the truth—the infallible Word of God.

Philosophies, theories and secular knowledge are not sources to consider if you want to make godly decisions; and Paul was an example of that. Before Paul was saved, he was highly educated and a zealous Pharisee; but he wasn’t making godly decisions. He thought he was, but his source of consideration was the letter of the Law rather than the Jesus love law; and that led him to kill Christians. Concerning zeal, persecuting the church; touching the righteousness which is in the law, blameless (Philippians 3:6).

How could Paul justify the persecution of God’s Holy Church and the murder of its saints and still think he was making godly decisions?—because he was more zealous of the traditions of his fathers than of the truth. For ye have heard of my conversation in time past in the Jews’ religion, how that beyond measure I persecuted the church of God, and wasted it: And profited in the Jews’ religion above many my equals in mine own nation, being more exceedingly zealous of the traditions of my fathers (Galatians 1:13,14).

Many people today are using the wrong basis for their considerations, and they think they are doing God a service by continuing to persecute the true Church of God; but Jesus said, They shall put you out of the synagogues: yea, the time cometh, that whosoever killeth you [or kills your godly influence] will think that he doeth God service. And these things will they do unto you, because they have not known the Father, nor me (John 16:2,3). Such people are not considering God or His Word.

The Foundation for Godly Decisions

The Lord wants His children to know how to make godly decisions, and He has given us much in His holy Word to help us do that. As you read, keep the following points in mind.

Godly decisions can be made only through:

  • the Word of God, which is absolute truth

  • the Holy Spirit, our teacher and guide

  • the fear of God, which is honor and reverence for God

  • the use of fleeces, at certain times

Godly decisions cannot be made through:

  • common sense alone

  • feelings

  • the opinions of self and others

  • intimidation from the devil

Once Paul was saved, he did not depend on himself or others. When God called him to preach, he said But when it pleased God, who separated me from my mother’s womb, and called me by his grace, To reveal his Son in me, that I might preach him among the heathen; immediately I conferred not with flesh and blood: Neither went I up to Jerusalem to them which were apostles before me; but I went into Arabia, and returned again unto Damascus (Galatians 1:15–17).

Paul knew flesh and blood didn’t have the answers he needed because he had lived so long in the flesh, and he knew how much the flesh opposed God. So he went into Arabia to consult the Lord and was taught by the Holy Ghost. He did not want any of his decisions about his ministry to be influenced by man, only by God. He didn’t even talk to any of the other apostles until three years later. Then after three years I went up to Jerusalem to see Peter, and abode with him fifteen days. But other of the apostles saw I none, save James the Lord’s brother (Galatians 1:18,19).

From that day forth, all of Paul’s decisions came only from considering Christ and the truth. But I certify you, brethren, that the gospel which was preached of me is not after man. For I neither received it of man, neither was I taught it, but by the revelation of Jesus Christ (Galatians 1:11,12).

Paul was no longer zealous of the traditions of his fathers but only of the truth of Jesus Christ, and he preached an uncompromising Gospel that had nothing of man in it. Wherefore, holy brethren, partakers of the heavenly calling, consider the Apostle and High Priest of our profession, Christ Jesus (Hebrews 3:1).

Depend on the Word

Everything you need comes from the Word of God. Thy word is true from the beginning: and every one of thy righteous judgments endureth forever (Psalm 119:160). I get so much from the Psalms because it is the most complete book in the whole Bible. Whenever my heart is overwhelmed, I always go to the Psalms. When my heart is overwhelmed: lead me to the rock [Christ Jesus] that is higher than I (Psalm 61:2). This is my comfort in my affliction: for thy word hath quickened me (Psalm 119:50).

The Word is very powerful. It will help you to make godly decisions, and it will help you to live holy. God said, It is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy (I Peter 1:16). Nevertheless, there are people who just don’t want the truth or its holiness.

Those who are full of ego definitely don’t want the truth; but Paul warned, For we dare not make ourselves of the number, or compare ourselves with some that commend themselves [those full of ego]: but they measuring themselves by themselves, and comparing themselves among themselves, are not wise (II Corinthians 10:12).

Paul wrote to Timothy, his son in the Lord, about the importance of the Word saying, From a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus. All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works (II Timothy 3:15–17).

When you know without a doubt that you receive your answers from Heaven, no one can talk you out of them; but answers from Heaven only come through the mind of Christ. Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus (Philippians 2:5). And the Bible says we can have that mind. For who hath known the mind of the Lord, that he may instruct him? But we have the mind of Christ (I Corinthians 2:16). That mind will only make godly decisions, but you can’t have that mind unless you hunger and thirst for more and more of God.

Let the Holy Ghost Teach You

But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you (John 14:26). The Holy Ghost was sent in the name of Jesus, and He will teach you everything you need to know. He will bear witness with your spirit when your decisions are in keeping with what God wants you to do.

We don’t need man’s approval when we have the approval of God. Paul said, For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God [which is in him] (I Corinthians 2:11). The Spirit of God, the Holy Ghost, lives in us, and that is how we learn the teachings of God’s heart for us.

Paul went on to say, Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God (I Corinthians 2:12). You must know what God has for you before you can reach out and receive it. Then when you do reach out, God will make those things and Himself so real to you. You won’t walk around in a daze wondering, “Am I saved? Am I sanctified? Do I have the Holy Ghost?” You will know.

Which things also we speak, not in the words which man’s wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual (I Corinthians 2:13). The Holy Ghost is the great teacher; so if you depend on human reasoning, you are likely to keep going around in circles.

The Israelites did that for years. They would go God’s way one minute, and then allow human reasoning and doubt to pull them right back into themselves. Then they would rebel and provoke God. He said through Isaiah the prophet, I have spread out my hands all the day unto a rebellious people, which walketh in a way that was not good, after their own thoughts; A people that provoketh me to anger continually to my face (Isaiah 65:2,3). Are you going God’s way one minute and then wavering because of what man says the next?

Think through the Spirit

If you make decisions based on people’s opinions, you aren’t making decisions through the Spirit. Confusion will rule, and God is not the author of confusion. For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace (I Corinthians 14:33).

When you are confused, the Word of God is not lighting your way; and the Holy Spirit is not bearing witness of what you are doing. You are leaning too much to your own understanding when the Bible says, Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths (Proverbs 3:5,6). Do the Lord’s will night and day, and you will be fine.

The Bible says, But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned (I Corinthians 2:14). Human thoughts are limited; but through the power of the Holy Ghost, you can go beyond the thoughts of the natural man.

Many people don’t interpret the scriptures correctly because you must have the Holy Ghost to be able to do that. Then you have to spend time studying the Word. A person has to study to be able to learn in school, and it is the same way with the Word. Some people think they know so much about the scriptures; but the Bible warns, If any man think that he knoweth anything, he knoweth nothing yet as he ought to know (I Corinthians 8:2).

The Lord said, It shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh (Acts 2:17). God was so thoughtful to give mankind such a wonderful comforter, teacher and guide who will lead those who will receive Him into all truth. Man needs the Spirit of God to be able to make spiritual decisions, and you should never make any decision without Him.

Now the Lord is that Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty (II Corinthians 3:17). The Bible makes that so plain; yet some of you still walk around in great bondage, letting the devil ride on your back. You need to stop right now and dump him; then decide to never let him hitch a ride again.

The Spirit Knows Best

Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come (John 16:13). You must depend on the Holy Ghost to show you things to come. When something happens that I don’t understand, I stop and hold on to God until He gives me understanding. Only then do I move. The Spirit will never lead you to take even one step that does not match the will of God.

Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered (Romans 8:26). Have you ever been so burdened that you just couldn’t put how you felt into words? Those are the times when the Holy Ghost will take over with groanings that you cannot utter, and the Father will hear every time.

He that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God (Romans 8:27). Not only will the Holy Ghost make intercession for you, but the Bible tells us that Christ will, too. It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us (Romans 8:34).

The Holy Spirit and Jesus will make intercession for you only according to the divine will of God and only when you pray in faith and obedience. There is no need for them to bother trying to help you if you don’t want God’s divine will. There is no danger when you are walking in the divine will of God; but when you are out of His will, thus saith the Lord, you can be destroyed at any moment.

The Holy Spirit and the Lord are ready to help anyone who will yield to them. God is no respecter of persons. Then Peter opened his mouth, and said, Of a truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons: But in every nation he that feareth him, and worketh righteousness, is accepted with him (Acts 10:34,35).

When you have the power of the Holy Ghost, it will quicken your body and shake you through and through. It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life (John 6:63). Samson had that quickening power when he was right with God. The Spirit would come upon him, and he would become superhuman.

Be Still

Are you free in your spirit, or are you tormented? Are you stable in the Lord or unstable? Do you struggle to make even the smallest decisions according to God’s will? If you want to be directed by divinity, the Bible says you have to be still, and know that I am God (Psalm 46:10). It also says, Study to be quiet (I Thessalonians 4:11). When you are consecrated and dedicated to God, quiet times with Him will become such wonderful times.

When Moses and the Israelites got to the Red Sea, Moses said unto the people, Fear ye not, stand still, and see the salvation of the LORD (Exodus 14:13). When the people stood still, the Lord opened up the Red Sea right before their eyes. The sea was twelve miles across and over eighty feet deep, but the waters piled up to the left and right like mountains. Then a warm wind blew and dried up a path right through the sea, and three or four million people passed through with all of their belongings and herds of animals.

If you don’t take time to get still with the Lord, you will never hear what He is saying; and you will make your decisions according to your own thoughts or other people’s opinions. Then you may actually be considering things that are based on hearsay or things that bring about envy and strife. You may even be considering things that are complete lies. No godly decisions can be made from any of these things. For where envying and strife is, there is confusion and every evil work (James 3:16).

Be Humble Before God

When you take a decision out of God’s hands and go your own way, that shows ego and disobedience; and if you want the Lord to move for you and direct your paths, you can’t have any ego. Ego is of the devil, and God hates it. The Bible says, Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the LORD, and depart from evil (Proverbs 3:7).

You also cannot listen to those who are full of ego. Let no man beguile you of your reward in a voluntary humility and worshipping of angels, intruding into those things which he hath not seen, vainly puffed up by his fleshly mind (Colossians 2:18).

God can only help those who are humble like Paul was when he said, I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me (Galatians 2:20).

When you are too wise in your own eyes, you will try to change the meaning of what the Lord says just as Peter did. From that time forth began Jesus to shew unto his disciples, how that he must go unto Jerusalem, and suffer many things of the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and be raised again the third day (Matthew 16:21). Jesus was making clear to the disciples why He had come to Earth. Then Peter took him [Jesus], and began to rebuke him, saying, Be it far from thee, Lord: this shall not be unto thee (Matthew 16:22). Peter may have felt wise in his own words, but he was way out of line. He gave place to the devil by not believing what Jesus had said.

So Jesus turned, and said unto Peter, Get thee behind me, Satan: thou art an offence unto me: for thou savourest not the things that be of God, but those that be of men (Matthew 16:23). Jesus loved Peter; but when Peter tried to hinder Him from fulfilling His mission, Jesus looked beyond His feelings and recognized that Peter’s motives came from self and Satan.

Then Jesus went on to say, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me. For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it (Matthew 16:24,25).

Honor God

The Psalmist told the Lord, Stablish thy word unto thy servant, who is devoted to thy fear (Psalm 119:38). To fear God is to honor Him; and the Psalmist had devoted himself to reverencing, honoring, glorifying and blessing the Lord through his holy living. We must do that, too. The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding (Proverbs 9:10). The Lord wants His children to understand Him and His Word.

That thou mightest fear [honor] the LORD thy God, to keep all his statutes and his commandments (Deuteronomy 6:2). The people in Old Testament days only had the Ten Commandments; but today, we have the Jesus love commandments; and we must keep them. They will make you holy and keep you holy, things the Old Testament Law could not do.

When people won’t honor God like they should, they will be the losers. For that they hated knowledge, and did not choose the fear of the LORD: They would none of my counsel: they despised all my reproof. Therefore shall they eat of the fruit of their own way, and be filled with their own devices (Proverbs 1:29–31). When people reject God, He lets them go on down the path to destruction and to blaspheming against the Holy Ghost.

Let not thine heart envy sinners: but be thou in the fear of the LORD all the day long (Proverbs 23:17). Never envy sinners because if they were to die in that condition, they would go to hell. If you as a child of God were to die, you would go to Heaven.

When you fear God the right way, you will honor only Him, His ultimate truth and His power. There is nothing else you will want to bow down to. By humility and the fear of the LORD are riches, and honour, and life (Proverbs 22:4). When you respect God, you have everything. He is the Great Creator and Provider, the only one who can do anything you need. That is why He wants you to let Him work.

I teach people wherever I go to honor and praise God. When God is performing miracles, I ask them, “Who did that?” Then I make them answer, “Jesus!” I ask, “Who do you love?” And they cry, “Jesus!” I plant that seed in their hearts and minds, and we see the results. God tells me what to do, and I do it; He tells me what to say, and I say it. That is the secret of this Jesus ministry, and things are going to get greater and greater until we have reached the whole world with the Gospel.

Let God Reveal Himself

If you are too confident in yourself and don’t have the proper, reverent fear of the Lord, the deep things of God will not be revealed to you; and you will make the wrong decisions. The secret of the LORD is with them that fear [reverence and honor] him; and he will shew them his covenant (Psalm 25:14).

Daniel was one who feared God, and the Lord revealed deep and secret things to him. The king of the kingdom where Daniel lived had had a dream, but he couldn’t remember it; and he didn’t know what it meant. The king brought in all the so-called wise men of the kingdom, but not one of them could tell him the dream. Then the king brought in Daniel, and God revealed to Daniel the king’s dream and its interpretation. Then was the secret revealed unto Daniel in a night vision (Daniel 2:19).

After that great revelation, Daniel honored, praised and glorified God even more saying, Blessed be the name of God forever and ever: for wisdom and might are his: He revealeth the deep and secret things: he knoweth what is in the darkness, and the light dwelleth with him. I thank thee, and praise thee, O thou God of my fathers, who hast given me wisdom and might, and hast made known unto me now what we desired of thee: for thou hast now made known unto us the king’s matter (Daniel 2:20,22,23).

Stay in the spirit of honoring the Lord and of knowing the reality of Him like Daniel did. God is a greater reality to me than people are, and He wants to be that real to you. He wants you to know that He lives and that He has all power! Jesus said, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen (Matthew 28:18–20). We are Jesus’ disciples, and He has given to us the same power that the Father gave to Him. What more do you need?

Be Not Afraid

Fear that comes from the devil is destructive because it brings confusion and many of the works of the flesh; but when you fear God the right way, it will put all other fears into their proper place. Problems won’t bother you anymore because you will know God will take care of them, and the victory will be yours.

The Bible says, The fear of man bringeth a snare: but whoso putteth his trust in the LORD shall be safe (Proverbs 29:25). In the fear of the LORD is strong confidence: and his children shall have a place of refuge [safety] (Proverbs 14:26). You don’t have to be afraid of anything.

The fear of the LORD is a fountain of life, to depart from the snares of death (Proverbs 14:27). There is victory over death in the Lord, yet so many people and even Christians are not really living. They let the devil make them afraid because they won’t treat the Lord like they should, so they aren’t enjoying the fountain of life.

In the fear of the Lord, you will find great strength, confidence, light and life. The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the LORD is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid (Psalm 27:1)? You will never be afraid when you know the Lord is protecting you.

Be not afraid of sudden fear, neither of the desolation of the wicked, when it cometh. For the LORD shall be thy confidence, and shall keep thy foot from being taken (Proverbs 3:25,26). When the Lord has you in His hands, you will never fall. You will always be safe. For in the time of trouble he shall hide me in his pavilion: in the secret of his tabernacle shall he hide me; he shall set me up upon a rock (Psalm 27:5).

The LORD is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my strength, in whom I will trust; my buckler, and the horn of my salvation, and my high tower (Psalm 18:2). God is everything you need. The name of the LORD is a strong tower: the righteous runneth into it, and is safe (Proverbs 18:10). The Word is your safety, so run into it.

Godly Fleeces

One way to make godly decisions is through fleeces, but they are not to be used in a foolish manner or for silly things. You don’t need to put out a fleece to know what color to paint your house or what to prepare for dinner. Fleeces are to be used in a solemn manner when you need assurance from God about a serious decision you have to make. God sees the whole picture; we don’t.

I believe in fleeces; and when I put out one before the Lord, I know God will answer it. The Bible teaches us in the story of Gideon and his army that it is best to put out a fleece more than one way. The devil will try to mislead you when you put one out only one way, but God won’t let him mislead you when you put it out two ways.

And Gideon said unto God, If thou wilt save Israel by mine hand, as thou hast said, Behold, I will put a fleece of wool in the floor; and if the dew be on the fleece only, and it be dry upon all the earth beside, then shall I know that thou wilt save Israel by mine hand, as thou hast said. And it was so: for he rose up early on the morrow, and thrust the fleece together, and wringed the dew out of the fleece, a bowl full of water. And Gideon said unto God, Let not thine anger be hot against me, and I will speak but this once: let me prove, I pray thee, but this once with the fleece; let it now be dry only upon the fleece, and upon all the ground let there be dew. And God did so that night: for it was dry upon the fleece only, and there was dew on all the ground (Judges 6:36–40). Gideon trusted God, but there is no need to put out a fleece before the Lord if you are not going to trust Him.

Gideon Listened to God

Gideon knew God would move, but he didn’t know how; so he started out with 32,000 soldiers. Then God spoke to him and said, The people that are with thee are too many for me to give the Midianites into their hands, lest Israel vaunt themselves against me, saying, Mine own hand hath saved me. Now therefore go to, proclaim in the ears of the people, saying, Whosoever is fearful and afraid, let him return and depart early from mount Gilead. And there returned of the people twenty and two thousand; and there remained ten thousand (Judges 7:2,3). The majority of the men turned back.

I’m sure Gideon was shaking all over saying, “Oh, my God! I can’t win with this number.” But the Lord told Gideon he still had too many men and that He was going to try them again. So he [Gideon] brought down the people unto the water: and the LORD said unto Gideon, Everyone that lappeth of the water with his tongue, as a dog lappeth, him shalt thou set by himself; likewise everyone that boweth down upon his knees to drink. And the number of them that lapped, putting their hand to their mouth, were three hundred men: but all the rest of the people bowed down upon their knees to drink water. And the LORD said unto Gideon, By the three hundred men that lapped will I save you, and deliver the Midianites into thine hand: and let all the other people go every man unto his place (Judges 7:5–7).

The men who had picked up the water in their hands were looking for the enemy, and the others were not; so God rejected them. The Bible doesn’t specifically say that, but you must understand that that is what God was doing.

God was so good to Gideon. He answered both of his fleeces, and then He showed him exactly how to follow up on what He had showed him. In the end, Gideon’s 300 men prevailed over an army of thousands of Midianites. And they [Gideon’s 300] stood every man in his place round about the camp: and all the host [of the enemy] ran, and cried, and fled (Judges 7:21). Gideon and his 300 won; and still today, God gets all the glory for that victory from His true people.

God looks out for His own, those who are taking this Gospel to the world; and we must not fail. The Lord said we would have tribulations, but He also promised to deliver us out of them all. Many are the afflictions of the righteous: but the LORD delivereth him out of them all (Psalm 34:19).

Listen Only to God

While Jesus lived on Earth, He was continually dealing with people who made wrong decisions because they reasoned the wrong way. Instead of reasoning with God, they would reason within themselves, with others and with the devil; so they always came up with the wrong answers and the wrong results.

Satan is a master deceiver and liar, so never let him talk to you. He is always trying to persuade people to go his way, but do not listen to him. Just spray him and his demons with the divine blood and send them on their way. The blood burns them like fire burns our skin, and they will flee. God also gives you the power to trample them underfoot. Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you (Luke 10:19).

If you listen to the devil instead of God and His Word, you can be deceived and even get into heresy, which is one of the seventeen works of the flesh listed in Galatians 5:19–21; and not one of those sins will get through the gates of Glory.

Heresy means a belief or opinion contrary to true doctrine, and that fits in with a lot of human reasoning. That is why the Bible says we are to be led by the Spirit. There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the [Holy] Spirit (Romans 8:1). When you are in Christ Jesus, there is no sin or disobedience in you.

When Jesus was on Earth, He knew the hearts of men and what they were thinking. And Jesus knowing their thoughts said, Wherefore think ye evil in your hearts (Matthew 9:4)? People who think evil have evil in their souls.

Jesus knew when people were reasoning within themselves; and many times, He would ask them about it. Jesus asked the scribes and Pharisees, What reason ye in your hearts (Luke 5:22)? He asked the disciples, O ye of little faith [human faith], why reason ye among yourselves (Matthew 16:8)? People who have only human faith reason among themselves and make wrong decisions. People with divine faith reason with God and His Word, and divine faith never compromises.

Take God’s Thoughts

Jesus knew that human reasoning would get people nowhere in the Lord because He knew that heavenly things could not be discerned with the mere mind of man. Jesus told people on different occasions, “Think not” because He knew that people could not use their own thinking to understand the things of God.

Jesus said to the Pharisees and Sadducees, Think not to say within yourselves, We have Abraham to our father: for I say unto you, that God is able of these stones to raise up children unto Abraham (Matthew 3:9). Jesus wanted them to stop talking about Abraham being their father because the power of God could raise up rocks to be children who would obey and reason with Him if that is what God wanted to do.

Human thinking said that Jesus came to destroy the Old Testament Law, but He told the people in the Sermon on the Mount that it was not so. Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil (Matthew 5:17).

Jesus told the disciples, Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword (Matthew 10:34). True peace only comes to children of God through Jesus Christ.

Jesus also warned them, Be ye therefore ready also: for the Son of man cometh at an hour when ye think not (Luke 12:40). Jesus will come when God is ready for Him to come, not when man thinks He should come.

Human thoughts will not bring the assurance and liberty that come from reasoning with God and His Word. That is why God said, Come now, and let us reason together, saith the LORD (Isaiah 1:18). You must never think for God; you must only think with God.

God’s thoughts, not human thoughts, bring about faith for your sins to be washed away and faith for miracles to happen. Only a heavenly mind is a mind of miracles, and miracles are for all those who will believe. Even the very definition of a miracle is an event that is unexplainable by the laws of nature, an act of God.

Do Not Deceive Yourself

Reasoning with yourself or others instead of God is a sign that you don’t want God’s answers, only answers that come through human logic. When people are full of self, they may say they want the truth; but they really don’t. They want to make their own decisions, come to their own conclusions and go their own way. The Bible says, The sluggard is wiser in his own conceit [He is deceived.] than seven men that can render a reason (Proverbs 26:16).

Paul described those who want to go their own way. Having the understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God through the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their heart (Ephesians 4:18). When a soul is blind, it is dead.

When God tells you to do something, you just have to be willing. Then with His help, you can do whatever He has asked of you. However, when you want something your way bad enough, you can deceive your own heart into thinking that is the right way. Paul told the Galatians, For if a man think himself to be something, when he is nothing, he deceiveth himself (Galatians 6:3).

There are people who may appear to be religious; but the Bible says, If any man among you seem to be religious, and bridleth not his tongue, but deceiveth his own heart, this man’s religion is vain (James 1:26). God hates gossip; and if you can’t control your tongue, you are not really saved. If you and your mate fuss, that is not God’s spirit.

Paul told the Corinthians, Let no man deceive himself. If any man among you seemeth to be wise in this world, let him become a fool, that he may be wise (I Corinthians 3:18). You must humble yourself like a little child and seek to be wise in the Word of the living God. The world may look at you and say you are a fool, but they are the ones who are the devil’s idiots; so don’t pay any attention to them.

When you listen to people more than you do God, they can easily deceive you. But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived (II Timothy 3:13).

Jesus knew all about that; and He said, Take heed that no man deceive you. For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many. For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect (Matthew 24:4,5,24). There will be those who will show false signs and wonders, but there will be no healings or true miracles because true miracles come only from God.

Follow Only Truth

If you make your decisions through your own human thinking, there can be no spiritual outcome. For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace (Romans 8:6). I have seen people stay home from church when things didn’t go their way claiming that they needed to be alone with God to reason things out, but they were fooling themselves.

If people really wanted God’s thoughts, they would go to church and hear the Word. The Bible says, Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching (Hebrews 10:25).

I preach the true Word of God, and I reason with Him. I give people God’s thoughts just like Samuel did. He told the Israelites, Now therefore stand still, that I may reason with you before the LORD of all the righteous acts of the LORD, which he did to you and to your fathers (I Samuel 12:7).

If you really want to know what is right and wrong and make godly decisions, you have to study the Word of God. That is truth, and it will reveal and expose anything false. Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth (II Timothy 2:15).

When you are first saved, you can only take in the milk of the Word; but as you grow in the Lord, you need the meat of the Word. But strong meat [the meat of the Word] belongeth to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil (Hebrews 5:14).

The Word separates truth from false. For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart (Hebrews 4:12). If you don’t accept the truth, you will be eternally lost. Billions who did not accept the truth are in hell today.

Be a Soul Winner

You have to know how to make godly decisions in soul winning, and one of the first things you have to learn is that it takes divine tact to be able to make proper contact with a soul. If you don’t have that tact, seek God until you get it. Only then will you yield to the Holy Spirit and let Him give you wisdom concerning the soul you are working with.

Study the person you are working with through the Holy Spirit. He is the great teacher, and He will let you know what to say and give you the right words to speak. Listen closely to the Spirit and be careful not to talk too much. Some people talk conviction on a person and then talk it right back off. Others overwhelm a person with too many scriptures.

Once you know you have given someone what the Lord wants you to, then stop. If the person is not ready to pray with you at that time, just let the Lord continue to deal with them.

In bringing a soul to God, the Holy Spirit usually uses just a few words to deal with a person. He will bring the same words or scriptures to a person’s mind over and over until that person is under conviction from Almighty God. So use divine patience and don’t try to hurry a person along. God is on your side when you are a true soul winner.

Before I was saved, the Lord used just a few words to convict me. When I would be in a place I knew I shouldn’t be, the Spirit of the Lord would say, “What if the Lord would come right now?” When I would get home late at night and start to turn out the light, the Holy Spirit would say, “What if you turn out the light and find yourself in darkness for all eternity?” Of course, I didn’t know it was the Holy Spirit speaking until later.

No one can come to the Lord in the first place unless they are drawn by the Holy Spirit. Many people think they can get right with God whenever they get ready, but that is not so. Jesus said, No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him (John 6:44).

Claim Victory in Jesus

God doesn’t want us to stumble along in the night; He wants to give us answers so we can be lights to the world. Jesus said, Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven (Matthew 5:14,16).

We are to be living epistles for Christ. Ye are our epistle written in our hearts, known and read of all men: Forasmuch as ye are manifestly declared to be the epistle of Christ ministered by us, written not with ink, but with the Spirit of the living God; not in tables of stone, but in fleshy tables of the heart (II Corinthians 3:2,3). To be a living epistle, you have to spend time with God. You may say you are too busy, but you can never be too busy to spend time with God.

We are chosen of God to fight these final battles, and we must not lose them. We have to ask the Lord for the boldness we need to preach His Gospel and do His work just as the disciples did. And now, Lord, behold their threatenings: and grant unto thy servants, that with all boldness they may speak thy word, By stretching forth thine hand to heal; and that signs and wonders may be done by the name of thy holy child Jesus. And when they had prayed, the place was shaken where they were assembled together; and they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and they spake the word of God with boldness (Acts 4:29–31).

We must know we are winners just as the Bible tells us we are. But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ (I Corinthians 15:57). For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith (I John 5:4).

Until Jesus calls His children home, we must be soldiers of the Cross and know that all things are possible to him that believeth (Mark 9:23). Every word in the English language that ends with “eth” means to continue, so you have to keep believing.

Go God’s Way

Now it is time to ask yourself, “Have I made and am I making godly decisions about the little things and the big things in my life?” If you really want God’s answers, you must yield to Him and let Him lead you and guide you. You must wait on Him and never run ahead of Him.

Decide today that you will start using only godly thoughts and making only godly decisions, and the Lord will anoint you to do that if you really want Him to. Take His anointing to always reason with Him, and never let it go. You must always be hungry for more of God, and you must always be coming into more of the knowledge of the truth. Even when we get to Heaven, we will always be learning more about God and His Son.

You must follow the Lord with your whole heart because no one can afford to be a hypocrite in this last hour. Jesus said, Ye hypocrites, ye can discern the face of the sky and of the earth; but how is it that ye do not discern this time (Luke 12:56)? This is a time for salvation and deliverance and a time to be completely set free. You have to want God’s way no matter how many trials, persecutions, heartaches or disappointments come against you.

Beware that this also is a time when the devil is doing all he can to deceive people, and it is so easy for people to blaspheme against the Holy Ghost if they give the devil any place in their lives. But he that shall blaspheme against the Holy Ghost hath never forgiveness, but is in danger of eternal damnation (Mark 3:29).

You will never listen to the devil if you dine at the Lord’s table every day. It is spread with everything you need from Heaven to do all that God wants you to do in this final hour, but you must partake. Your body receives strength from what the Earth furnishes for it, but the soul cannot be fed with meat and vegetables. The soul came from the breath of God, so it is only satisfied with the things of God.

Your soul has to be fed by the Holy Spirit, the Spirit of truth; and the truth gives life to your soul. The Psalmist said, My cup runneth over (Psalm 23:5). Your mind cup may run over, but your soul can hold all of Heaven because it is divine.

Jesus walked the Father’s way; and now, we also have to walk that way and finish the Lord’s work before it is time to go home. The Lord is always looking for two more hands to help build His Kingdom.

Decide to Follow Jesus

God tried everything He could think of to save man before He gave His Son, but nothing worked. Jesus had to come to Earth to bring us His love commandments, and then He gave His life for our salvation. God sacrificed His Only Son; and when He did, He gave His whole heart and all of His love. He had nothing left to give. For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life (John 3:16).

Sinner, you must not reject such a great act of love. If you want the wonderful Word of God to work for you and you want to call God your Father, then come to Jesus right now. It doesn’t matter how many or what kinds of sins you have committed; God will forgive you. You may have lied to, deceived and cheated people. You may have given in to your lust, but the Lord will set you free and wash you clean with the divine blood.

The Bible says the time will come that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved (Acts 2:21). That time is here, saith the Lord. All people have to do is call on the Lord and be sorry for their sins, and the blood will cleanse them. The Lord is only coming for a spotless Bride, so you have to be free of everything. That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish (Ephesians 5:27). Some think they can play with God, but they are badly mistaken.

If you want to be a part of that great Rapture Day, say this prayer with me now: Oh, God! I am so sorry that I have sinned against you; but I have come home, and I am going to serve you, Lord, for the rest of my life. I believe the blood of Jesus sets me free from all of my sins. Come into my heart, Jesus! Come on in!

The greatest miracle of all is getting saved through the blood. If you believe the Word, Jesus has come; and the Word is yours. You have been born again into the image of God; and that means when God looks at you, He sees someone who is holy and righteous like Himself.

Receive the Holy Ghost

Now, you must go on to get the Holy Ghost. Thus saith the Lord, you must get a real experience because you will need it to take you the rest of the way. The great God of the universe keeps all those at heart who will honor Him, look to Him and obey Him. Thus saith the Lord, do what He wants you to do day and night. Then you will be all right.

Once you are really saved and made holy, praise and glorify the Lord and don’t stop until you yield completely to the Holy Ghost. Then He will take over, and you will receive power from On High. But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth (Acts 1:8).

That is exactly what the disciples did in the Upper Room on the Day of Pentecost. They received the power of the Holy Ghost and began to speak with other tongues as the Spirit gave the utterance. And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting. And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance (Acts 2:1–4).

When you have the Holy Ghost living inside of you, God will be able to work for you in unbelievable ways. Now unto him [God] that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us (Ephesians 3:20). That is the way to get your prayers answered.

Decide You Can Be Healed

Now, it is time for you to receive healing from Heaven. The Lord said He would heal you, but you have to believe that; and you have to obey and serve Him. I am not your healer; I am just the Lord’s believer, and the Bible says, The prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up (James 5:15).

Lord, as a servant of the living God, I come with your supernatural gifts—the gift of miracles and the gift of healing for the captives to be set free. It comes in the name of Jesus and through the power of the Holy Ghost. I command the cancer spirits to flee and those with growths of any kind to be healed now. I command those who are blind to receive sight, and those who are crippled to be made well. I command the heart patients, diabetics and all those who suffer with any deadly disease to be cured by the love and power of the great I-Am. Heal! in the all-powerful name of Jesus! Heal! in the holy name of Jesus!

Lord, I know your healing power is flowing through the divine blood. You are moving, pouring out your miracle greatness to make all the people well.

Watch yourself and your little ones get well because the God of miracles lives! Then write or email to tell me what God has done for you.
