The Word of God makes the difference in everything, and it will make the difference for the whole world if people will use it. The Word brings life, love and sunshine at midnight.

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God (John 1:1). Jesus, the Son of God, was with God; and He was the same as God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by him; and without him was not anything made that was made. In him was life; and the life was the light of men. And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not (John 1:2-5). People did not respond to that light; but we have that same light, and we must carry that light to the people just as John the Revelator did.

John the Baptist was a great light, too. He was the forerunner of Jesus, and he never compromised. It cost him his head, but Heaven was waiting for him when he had finished his course.

God, the Great Creator

God spoke the entire universe into existence, and the Bible tells us He hung it upon nothing. He stretcheth out the north over the empty place, and hangeth the earth upon nothing (Job 26:7). Does that frighten you? If God had hung the Earth only yesterday, some of you would not sleep tonight; but because He hung it many years ago, you are not even conscious of the fact that He hung it upon nothing. This whole universe is hanging only upon the power of God.

And God made two great lights; the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night: he made the stars also (Genesis 1:16). God spoke the sun, the moon and the stars into existence; but when it comes time for us to leave this world, they will have served their purpose. We have a lot in store for us. God said, For I am the LORD: I will speak, and the word that I shall speak shall come to pass (Ezekiel 12:25).

God was the one who said to the Son and the Holy Ghost, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth. So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them (Genesis 1:26,27). And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul (Genesis 2:7). Together, God the Father, the Son and the Holy Ghost made a perfect man out of the dust of the Earth. Down through the years, women have tried to make a perfect man for themselves. They marry a man with all his faults thinking, “I will change him”; but that change never happens. You must wait and pray and let God make a perfect man for you.

God made the first woman perfect, too, but neither Adam nor Eve stayed that way. The Lord said, Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect (Matthew 5:48). The Lord also said we are to be holy. Be ye holy; for I am holy (I Peter 1:16). The Lord has called all of us to holiness, truth and righteousness; and without holiness, we will never see the face of God. Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord (Hebrews 12:14). The Word makes the difference.

The Healing Word

The Word—the Bible—says, He sent his word, and healed them (Psalm 107:20). When I pray for people, I speak Word power; and if they will accept the Word, they will be healed. But if I pray and they don’t accept God’s Word, it is not likely to work for them. The Word heals soul, mind and body; but you have to accept the power of the Word. Many people have gone away from the Word and mixed so many other doctrines and opinions with it that it doesn’t have enough strength to deliver them. In many churches today, there is not enough Word power to cast the devils out of one individual much less out of a number of people.

Word power will set the captives free. Jesus said, The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised (Luke 4:18).

When God brought the Israelites out of Egyptian bondage, the Bible says, He brought them forth also with silver and gold: and there was not one feeble person among their tribes (Psalm 105:37). God healed all of the people. They all walked out of Egypt and were strong.

The Israelites had been slaves their whole lives, so just think of what a crippled and awful condition their bodies must have been in. No one had taken care of them, and the Egyptians had worked them nearly to death; but when God brought them out, they were anointed by the power of the Almighty. They had the burning bush, the pillar of fire and the cloud of God’s presence; they had everything they needed. And the LORD went before them by day in a pillar of a cloud, to lead them the way; and by night in a pillar of fire, to give them light; to go by day and night: He took not away the pillar of the cloud by day, nor the pillar of fire by night, from before the people (Exodus 13:21,22).

The pillar of fire held the enemy back, and the great, magnificent Egyptian army was no match for it. And the angel of God, which went before the camp of Israel, removed and went behind them; and the pillar of the cloud went from before their face, and stood behind them: And it came between the camp of the Egyptians and the camp of Israel; and it was a cloud and darkness to them, but it gave light by night to these: so that the one came not near the other all the night (Exodus 14:19,20).

When the Israelites arrived at the Red Sea, God separated the waters. And with the blast of thy nostrils the waters were gathered together, the floods stood upright as an heap, and the depths were congealed in the heart of the sea (Exodus 15:8).

It is said that the sea was twelve miles across and over eighty feet deep where the Israelites crossed, but they went across by faith. Moses spoke the Word, and the Word worked because he used the faith of God. We can speak the Word and have it work, too.

The Word Prevails

In the Acts of the Apostles, the disciples learned to speak the Word; and when they were persecuted, they went everywhere preaching the Word. Therefore they that were scattered abroad went everywhere preaching the word (Acts 8:4). As they preached, the Word increased, prevailed and multiplied. And the word of God increased; and the number of the disciples multiplied in Jerusalem greatly; and a great company of the priests were obedient to the faith (Acts 6:7). So mightily grew the word of God and prevailed (Acts 19:20). But the word of God grew and multiplied (Acts 12:24). The Word will increase and prevail through us, too, against all the powers of evil and against everything that is unlike God.

You can have so much peace in your home when the Word prevails. It is wonderful when the Word of God can have its way in one individual life; but when it prevails in a whole family, it is even greater. My mother and dad thought the Word should prevail above everything else, and the Word was paramount and holy in our home. We were taught not to question the Word of God; my people studied the Word, and they knew it was all true. The Bible was very special in our home, and we didn’t treat it like other books. It had a special place, and it was never put out of reach of the children. We were taught the Bible was a holy, sacred book; and when we looked at it, we were told we should think about God.

Some people do not honor the Word like they should, and they don’t give it the proper place it should have in their lives; so a lot is lacking for them. When the Word takes its proper place and people speak the things of God, that is the faith of God.

The Word Delivers

The Word helped the disciples to overcome, and it brought Peter out of jail. Peter was sleeping between two soldiers, bound with two chains: and the keepers before the door kept the prison. And, behold, the angel of the Lord came upon him, and a light shined in the prison: and he smote Peter on the side, and raised him up, saying, Arise up quickly. And his chains fell off from his hands. And the angel said unto him, Gird thyself, and bind on thy sandals. And so he did. And he saith unto him, Cast thy garment about thee, and follow me. And he went out, and followed him; and wist not that it was true which was done by the angel; but thought he saw a vision. When they were past the first and the second ward, they came unto the iron gate that leadeth unto the city; which opened to them of his own accord: and they went out, and passed on through one street; and forthwith the angel departed from him. And when Peter was come to himself, he said, Now I know of a surety, that the Lord hath sent his angel, and hath delivered me out of the hand of Herod (Acts 12:6-11).

There was a man at the Gate Beautiful who had never walked, and the Word healed him. Then Peter said, Silver and gold have I none; but such as I have give I thee: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up and walk. And he took him by the right hand, and lifted him up: and immediately his feet and ankle bones received strength. And he leaping up stood, and walked, and entered with them into the temple, walking, and leaping, and praising God (Acts 3:6-8). Peter had the promises in the Word, and those promises were and still are true.

Do you use the Word? I am a Word preacher, a Word prayer warrior and a Word thinker; and I use the Word. You also have to think the Word. The Bible says, For as he [a man or a woman] thinketh in his heart, so is he (Proverbs 23:7). You must think God’s faith and divinity, and then the Word will produce and prevail over all the powers of the devil. It will bring people to the foot of the Old Rugged Cross and take them to the Upper Room so they can be baptized in the good Holy Ghost.

When the fire of the Holy Ghost is burning on the inside of us, we are on fire for God. We must love the Holy Ghost power because that is what will change us on Rapture Day. But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you (Romans 8:11). We will be changed in a twinkling of an eye and caught away to be with the Lord forever. Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed (I Corinthians 15:51,52). What a happy day that will be!

Only Believe

We do not force people to believe; but the Lord said, All things are possible to him that believeth (Mark 9:23). Because of that, ten lepers were cleansed by the Word; but they did not all go back to the Word. Nine of them went on their way, and I believe that the one who went back to give thanks was not only healed of leprosy but made completely whole. When you trust in the Word, it works. And as he [Jesus] entered into a certain village, there met him ten men that were lepers, which stood afar off: And they lifted up their voices, and said, Jesus, Master, have mercy on us. And when he saw them, he said unto them, Go shew yourselves unto the priests. And it came to pass, that, as they went, they were cleansed. And one of them, when he saw that he was healed, turned back, and with a loud voice glorified God, And fell down on his face at his feet, giving him thanks: and he was a Samaritan. And Jesus answering said, Were there not ten cleansed? but where are the nine? There are not found that returned to give glory to God, save this stranger. And he said unto him, Arise, go thy way: thy faith hath made thee whole (Luke 17:12-19).

The rich, young ruler came and met the Word, but what good did it do him? He had his wealth, and he would not surrender to the Word. When the Word spoke and told him what he must do, he went away weeping; but that did not do him any good. There came one running, and kneeled to him [Jesus], and asked him, Good Master, what shall I do that I may inherit eternal life? And Jesus said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God. Thou knowest the commandments, Do not commit adultery, Do not kill, Do not steal, Do not bear false witness, Defraud not, Honour thy father and mother. And he answered and said unto him, Master, all these have I observed from my youth. Then Jesus beholding him loved him, and said unto him, One thing thou lackest: go thy way, sell whatsoever thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come, take up the cross, and follow me. And he was sad at that saying, and went away grieved: for he had great possessions (Mark 10:17-22). That man probably lost his soul because if he had come to the Lord later, I am sure the Lord would have told us about it in the Word.

The Word will change a drunk into a holy person and make him a holy tabernacle who is really saved, sanctified and ready to be filled with the Holy Ghost. Then that person becomes the temple of God. The Word changes drug addicts who have been almost totally destroyed. They are born new and made to be wonderful workers for the Lord.

Freedom through the Word

If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed (John 8:36). When the Lord sets you free, you are absolutely free with no bondages. That is why children of God are so happy—we are free, and we sing the songs of Zion. We don’t sing the songs of the world, and we are not a part of the world; we are pilgrims and strangers in a strange land, and our harps are not hanging on the willows as the Israelites’ harps were. By the rivers of Babylon, there we sat down, yea, we wept, when we remembered Zion. We hanged our harps upon the willows in the midst thereof. For there they that carried us away captive required of us a song; and they that wasted us required of us mirth, saying, Sing us one of the songs of Zion (Psalm 137:1-3).

The Israelites were in bondage, but we are not in bondage. We have taken our harps off the willows; and we are making music, singing and rejoicing. The Bible says we are to make a joyful noise unto the Lord and to sing praises unto Him. Make a joyful noise unto the LORD, all the earth: make a loud noise, and rejoice, and sing praise (Psalm 98:4). Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord (Ephesians 5:19). The Word of God in those songs will edify you, and the words will bless you.

When songs have the Gospel in them, it will come out as people sing them through the anointing of God; and people will be drawn closer to the Lord. They will draw sinners to the altar, and they will cry out to God for mercy. We give them the Word, and the Word does it. We give them the truth, and it convicts them of their sins; and with tears streaming down their faces, they give themselves to the Lord.

The Word Saves

The Word, Jesus, brought salvation when He was born in Bethlehem one night. The angel of the Lord appeared to the shepherds who were keeping watch over their flocks saying, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord. And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger (Luke 2:10-12).

The shepherds believed the angel’s message, and they hurried to find the newborn King. And they came with haste, and found Mary, and Joseph, and the babe lying in a manger (Luke 2:16).

The Word came saying, “You must be born again.” There was a man of the Pharisees, named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews: The same came to Jesus by night, and said unto him, Rabbi, we know that thou art a teacher come from God: for no man can do these miracles that thou doest, except God be with him. Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God (John 3:1-3).

When we are as sorry for our sins as God is that we committed them, we have it made. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness (I John 1:9). When we confess our sins with godly sorrow, the Lord said He would forgive us. For godly sorrow worketh repentance to salvation not to be repented of: but the sorrow of the world worketh death (II Corinthians 7:10).

A New Earth Will Come

The Word is humble and meek, and the Word is for everybody—the very poor and the very rich, the uneducated and the intellectuals. Everyone must humble themselves before the foot of the Cross, and the way of the Cross leads home.

You must humble yourself with Heaven’s humility because you have to go down before you can be lifted up. When you go down in prayer, fasting and in the Word, you will be lifted up, up, up until you will one day behold the streets of Glory and the gates of pearl.

I saw the outside of that Celestial City one time in a vision. I saw the New Jerusalem coming down, and I was fascinated. I saw Michael, the archangel; and I saw Jesus standing not far from the gate of the city, letting me know it won’t be long now until we will enter that great city.

One day, the New Jerusalem will come down to rest upon the new Earth, and we will enjoy it as the endless ages roll all because of the Word. Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away (Matthew 24:35). Heaven and Earth as we know them will pass away, but the Word will endure forever. The word of the Lord endureth forever (I Peter 1:25). We are safe only in the Word; we are not safe on this Earth.

Know the Word

You can trust the Word, and the Word works. It has all power, and I delight in the Word of God. In the blood name of Jesus, the Word, I tell people to rise up and walk just as Peter said to the man at the Gate Beautiful. I have seen people rise up and walk who the doctors said would never walk.

We believe in good doctors and good hospitals, and many medical people sponsor this ministry. I believe in what they are doing, and they believe in what I am doing. Doctors watch my programs, and they believe the miracles; and many of them now pray before they perform surgery.

You have to see what the Word has done, so think about what it has done for you. It made you a brand-new creation if you used it. If you are in Christ Jesus, the old things have passed away because of the Word. Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new (II Corinthians 5:17).

The blood Word of God is powerful, and it works. It is ours to use against the devil, and we must use it against all the powers of the enemy. All demonic spirits are conquered through the blood Word, and we must never forget it. Know the Word, and then you will know your place in the Lord and the will of God for your life.

I knew the Word, and I received the mind of Christ the night I got saved. I knew the will of God was for me to preach the Gospel; and because I knew the Word, the Lord moved in. I grew up memorizing scriptures and even whole chapters of the Bible, and those verses and chapters still stick with me today. I have used them down through the years in preaching and in personal soul winning.

In this ministry, we teach people the Holy Scriptures; then they go forth on the mission fields with the Word. The Psalmist said, Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee (Psalm 119:11). The Proverbs writer said it would bring health to your body. My son, attend to my words; incline thine ear unto my sayings. Let them not depart from thine eyes; keep them in the midst of thine heart. For they are life unto those that find them, and health to all their flesh (Proverbs 4:20-22).

Use the Word

The Word must be paramount in your life, and you must be a user of the Word; but how much do you use it? How much you trust in the Word indicates how close you are to God and how rich you are in Him. Nobody should be able to change you when you know the Word is the love law of Jehovah God, Jesus Christ and the Holy Ghost.

When you accept the Word, you have the promises of God that endure forever. The devil cannot break one of God’s promises, and you can’t let him break your spirit. Never listen to the devil; listen only to what the Word is saying. The Word has the loudest voice on Earth when you have your ears open to what the Spirit is saying because the Spirit uses the Word.

This is a time of revelation of the Holy Scriptures, so study to show yourself approved unto God. Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth (II Timothy 2:15). How much do you know about the Word? If your Bible was taken from you, how many scriptures would you have in your spirit that could not be taken away? Someone should have to take your life to be able to stop you.

How many times have you put yourself to sleep quoting scripture or saying the books of the Bible instead of counting sheep? If you start counting your blessings, the devil will back off and let you go to sleep; but as long as you count sheep, he will let you stay awake all night. If you are weak enough to count sheep, you are weak enough for the devil to talk to you and disturb you. He will make you depressed and cause you to grumble and complain. Again I say that you must not listen to the devil. Jesus didn’t, and you can stand up against him, too. Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might (Ephesians 6:10).

The Word has all power, and there is no weakness in it. We will become weak, despondent and have many misgivings when we fail to trust the Word; and if you don’t trust the Word, you will not use the Word.

Put On God’s Armor

You must wear the whole armor of God; that is the Word, but how many Christians today really know what the Word says about the armor we are to use? God is a God of war, and Paul received from Heaven what the armor of God is. Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked (Ephesians 6:13-16).

You can have a shield that will stop all the fiery darts of the devil; the Word declares it, but some of you don’t believe it enough to use that shield. I don’t let the devil shoot me with his darts. You have to hold up that shield of faith with all confidence knowing that all of the devil’s arrows will fall at your feet.

And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God (Ephesians 6:17). If you don’t put on the whole armor of God, you are not fully dressed; but when you have the whole armor on, you can expect the Word and God’s promises to be fulfilled.

Don’t go around worrying about everything when the Lord told us not to worry. Be careful for nothing; but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God (Philippians 4:6). Worry isn’t faith, and faith isn’t worry; so all things are possible when you believe the Word. If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth (Mark 9:23).

All of God’s promises are holy because they are the Word of the living God. Your future is as bright as the promises of God if you claim them and use them, but you have to use them rather than your own theories.

You cannot be moody and use the promises of God. You may see people one day who will smile and say, “Hello there!” But the next time you see them, they may hardly speak to you. They don’t want to hear about how good the Lord has been; and instead, they want you to pity them and say, “You poor person, my heart bleeds for you!” But God’s heart does not bleed for them. Jesus already died for them, and they are a terrible sight in the eyes of God.

We are to call people to the greatness of God and for the greatness of God. It is time for us to move like never before because the call of God is upon us. God doesn’t make failures, and He doesn’t make weaklings.

Teach Your Children the Word

I never walk around depressed like many Christians do; the Lord gave me the Word. I was a student of the Bible when I was just a little sinner boy. The Lord saw to it that I received the Word in public school, and I never earned less than an “A” on Bible. There was not a subject in school I loved better than Bible.

The Word was also paramount in our home. Mother and Dad saw that all of their children received the Word, but they never forced it down our throats. Daddy would read a verse of scripture in the evening when we would gather around the family altar; and then Daddy, Mama and my two oldest sisters would pray. They prayed out loud after they had come into Pentecost, and sometimes they would pray for hours if the Spirit moved upon them; but they never forced that upon us. We were allowed to slip away quietly and go to bed or back to our lessons while they prayed. It is wonderful to raise children like that.

I had Sunday school teachers who were filled with the Holy Spirit, used the Word and taught it in its fullness—regeneration, sanctification, the baptism of the Holy Ghost, the gifts of the Spirit and the fruits of the Spirit. It excited me to listen to them, and my mind would take it all in.

Preachers in that day preached the Word the old-fashioned way with no compromise. We had so many advantages because we were taught that the Bible was the book of all books. We found answers in the Bible to things that we didn’t understand; God gave the answers through the Word.

My family studied the Word; they didn’t just read it. My daddy spent thousands of hours studying the Holy Scriptures. He could tell you so much about the Old Testament and how people failed because they did not use the Word—they shunned it, failed it and sinned against it.

When you sin against the Word, you will have no power over the devil; and then you are liable to do anything the devil wants. The Word gives victory over all sin, and it gives you eternal life; so trust it. Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths (Proverbs 3:5,6).

Take On the Characteristics of the Word

We can have healing hands—that is the Word. It declares that when a consecrated, dedicated, holy hand of a human being is laid upon the sick, they shall recover. And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name [Jesus, the Word] shall they cast out devils…they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover (Mark 16:17,18). We believe that because God said it in the Word, and that is why this ministry is reaching to the ends of the Earth. We teach the Word and nothing but the Word. We teach truth and nothing but the truth, and the truth is setting the captives free.

We must have the faith of the Word; have you ever studied it? Whatever the Word says is the faith of the Word; and it says, And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up (James 5:15). Some people don’t believe that God can heal.

When you have that first love of the Word, you love it all; and you want to hear it. You want to carry it in your heart so you won’t sin against God. You want to carry the Word promises, and they are as strong as Jesus Himself.

We must have the joy of the Word and the great peace of the Word. The Word is a refuge in time of storm, and it will work for you if you allow it to. It will produce and prevail through you so you will not be afraid. You will have that Jesus calm. Jesus, the Word, spoke and said, Peace, be still (Mark 4:39); and the sea became calm. Then the disciples said, What manner of man is this, that even the wind and the sea obey him (Mark 4:41)?

Now, if the Word could speak and calm an angry sea, surely He can speak to your little soul and calm the storm. Think about the horrible storm that must have been raging on the sea and what huge waves there were; and Jesus just said, Peace, be still—that is the Word. The Word will work for you, too, when it is spoken in the same love.

The Word Makes You

The Word of God is the life of God given to us, and Jesus was the Word made flesh. And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth (John 1:14). That same Word will dwell in our flesh because Jesus came to tabernacle with us. That was the reason Paul could say, I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ [the Word] liveth in me (Galatians 2:20). Paul proved that statement through all the books of the Bible he wrote, and he wrote more books than all the other apostles put together even though he never saw Jesus in the flesh. Paul had so much of God’s knowledge, so what he wrote is the Word talking to you and me.

The Lord has used Paul more than anyone else besides Jesus to bring me to where I am in the Lord today. I had never considered myself worthy to have any of the gifts of the Spirit. I thought it was wonderful just to have all the fruits of the Spirit and that the Lord counted me worthy to baptize me in the sweet Holy Ghost. I thought that was the top of the mountain, but the Lord kept leading me on. He let me know that Paul had at one time been the chief of sinners, yet he became one of the greatest apostles. This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief (I Timothy 1:15). It isn’t what we were but what we are that counts. We are so blessed with the Word, and it makes us spiritual giants.

Little David became a spiritual giant against a huge, human giant. Goliath was a type and shadow of the devil, but he was no match for David. In spite of all of Goliath’s boasting, one stone killed him. And when the Philistine [Goliath] looked about, and saw David, he disdained him: for he was but a youth, and ruddy, and of a fair countenance. And the Philistine said unto David, Am I a dog, that thou comest to me with staves? And the Philistine cursed David by his gods. And the Philistine said to David, Come to me, and I will give thy flesh unto the fowls of the air, and to the beasts of the field. Then said David to the Philistine, Thou comest to me with a sword, and with a spear, and with a shield: but I come to thee in the name of the LORD of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom thou hast defied. This day will the LORD deliver thee into mine hand…And it came to pass, when the Philistine arose, and came, and drew nigh to meet David, that David hasted, and ran toward the army to meet the Philistine. And David put his hand in his bag, and took thence a stone, and slang it, and smote the Philistine in his forehead, that the stone sunk into his forehead; and he fell upon his face to the earth. So David prevailed over the Philistine with a sling and with a stone, and smote the Philistine, and slew him (I Samuel 17:42-46,48-50). Biblical scholars say David was about thirteen when he killed Goliath, but he was unafraid because he had the Word.

Saul Failed God

Saul, the Israelites’ king, was not right with God. As a man, he stood taller than anyone else. When he [Saul] stood among the people, he was higher than any of the people from his shoulders and upward. And Samuel said to all the people, See ye him whom the LORD hath chosen, that there is none like him among all the people? And all the people shouted, and said, God save the king (I Samuel 10:23,24). Physical size does not matter with God, and Saul failed God.

The Lord gifted David with his talents to sing and to play the harp. I am sure he never had a lesson; but when he would play, the devils would leave Saul for a time. And it came to pass, when the evil spirit from God was upon Saul, that David took an harp, and played with his hand: so Saul was refreshed, and was well, and the evil spirit departed from him (I Samuel 16:23). Saul would not accept the Word and wanted his own way, so the Word could not work for him.

Later, Saul even tried to kill David. And David played with his hand, as at other times: and there was a javelin in Saul’s hand. And Saul cast the javelin; for he said, I will smite David even to the wall with it. And David avoided out of his presence twice (I Samuel 18:10,11).

Saul had been so close to God at one time that the Lord was able to prophesy through him. And it was so, that when he [Saul] had turned his back to go from Samuel, God gave him another heart…And when they came thither to the hill, behold, a company of prophets met him; and the Spirit of God came upon him, and he prophesied among them (I Samuel 10:9,10). But Saul turned away from the Word because he loved his own theories more than he loved the Word.

The Lord has told us to get rid of our theories when they don’t match the Word, so you must take every theory and every mood to the Word of God. We are to be just like Jesus, the Word; He is our example. For even hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps (I Peter 2:21). When the Word was made flesh, He had all the weaknesses of the flesh that we have; but He was able to overcome.

Depend on the Word

John [the Baptist] seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world (John 1:29). That Lamb is seeing us through on this journey, and He is coming again soon. There will be one flight out, and then the Tribulation will begin.

Think about all the love, faith and everything else that is available to us. Jesus said, And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free (John 8:32). With nothing to fear, you walk unafraid. With nothing to worry about, you commit all things into the hands of God.

Some people will go to church and get anointed and blessed and commit to the Word, but then they don’t keep that commitment all the time. I follow up on whatever God tells me because whatever the Word says is paramount to me. I listen to the instructions and the direction of the Word. I listen to the power and the strength of the Word. I am a user of the Word, and I never make room for doubt.

I did not doubt the Word of God even when I was a sinner because that was what I had been taught. If God said it, we believed it; and that settled it in our home. We knew that God would supply our needs, even during the Great Depression. My parents used the Word of promise; and they tithed the little money that they received, and they gave to the Lord. The Word said that our needs would be supplied, and they were. While others were standing in line to get a loaf of bread, we always had food on our table; and we never went hungry because God looked out for us.

Mama and Daddy kept the Word before us, and they never read to us from any other book but the Bible. What do you read to your children? Mom sang nothing but glorious songs about Jesus as she rocked that big cradle and sang to child after child. If I had a fever, Mom would say, “Honey, you had better be getting up your faith; the devil is going to try you.” She told me the Lord would take away my fever; she gave me the Word. Then I would wake up the next morning feeling fine and be ready to go to school while others were sick with the flu. Mama’s words were God-talk to me. If Mama said it, I believed it; and the devil could never silence Mama’s voice because Mama gave me the Word, and she never lied to me.

You must teach your children the Word. They must have tender care and be taught how to love others, how to respect the Gospel and how to respect God’s people.

Find Help in the Word

You have to trust the Word and stop looking at other people. When you want help, go to the Word. When my heart is burdened and I am under a great load, people are not my inspiration. I go to the Word, and the Word manifests itself in my spirit and in my heart. When my heart is overwhelmed: lead me to the rock that is higher than I (Psalm 61:2).

I find so much help in the Psalms, and they bring peace to me that passeth all understanding. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:7).

You don’t have to be troubled, but some of you let fear take you over. Job said, For the thing which I greatly feared is come upon me, and that which I was afraid of is come unto me (Job 3:25). You can bring things upon yourself by being afraid when you should stand up and fight. The Lord has given you His war armor, and the devil cannot penetrate it.

How do you look at the Word, and how much do you receive from it daily? How rich are you in what God has said? Do you live on His promises? If not, you will live on human promises; and the devil will really battle your mind. Then you will give over to those battles because human power doesn’t have the strength to overcome all the powers of the enemy. You will allow depression and oppression to take you over again and again, but what do you have to be unhappy about?

I have been happy down through these many years. I never thought it took money to make people happy because my family was very poor, but we had so much happiness. We didn’t have the right clothes to keep us warm or the best shoes, but we knew the Word; and the Word kept us going.

No matter what things look like with the naked eye, they are very simple when you look at them through the Word. My God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:19). Live on that scripture. The Bible also says, Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the LORD of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it (Malachi 3:10). In my home, even those of us who were sinners believed that. We knew everything would be all right because of the Word.

Never Turn from the Word

When you have the truth, the Word, it makes your word good; and you will keep your promises. If you promise to pay someone, you must pay that person or let him know that you will as soon as you get the money. Don’t avoid that person; you must keep your promise to him.

Don’t make promises and not keep them because when you do, you are not following the Word; and you are not pleasing God. You please God only when you use His Word. If you fail to use it, you will go the way of all flesh; and then God can’t trust you. We need to be trusted by God.

Adam and Eve had the Word; and as long as they listened to it, they were all right. But when they turned from the Word of God to the words of the serpent, they lost everything. You must let that be a warning to you, but many people don’t believe that; and some don’t even believe there is a God. The devil has them in such an awful state because they were raised wrong and taught wrong, and they are objects of pity who will soon be in eternal damnation.

There will be no unbelievers in hell; everyone will be believers there. People think they can do anything and still go to Heaven, but they will never make it; and in hell they will lift up their eyes. When the rich man died, he lifted up his eyes and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame (Luke 16:24). Many preachers make fun of that story, but they will find out that there is a flame in hell when they get there. It is so sad when people will not accept the eternal Word.

The Word Works Wonders

What did the living Word do? It went forth healing people of all manner of sicknesses and diseases. And Jesus went about all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing all manner of sickness and all manner of disease among the people (Matthew 4:23). There is such life in the Word that it even raised the dead. He [Jesus] cried with a loud voice, Lazarus, come forth. And he that was dead came forth, bound hand and foot with graveclothes: and his face was bound about with a napkin. Jesus saith unto them, Loose him, and let him go (John 11:43,44).

When Jesus spoke, it was the Word speaking; and it worked every time. We who are sons and daughters of God can use the Word in all faith, and it will work; but if you use it just some of the time or doubt it, it will not work very much for you or maybe not at all. That is not the way to use the Word. I make no room for doubt; and I use the Word with all power, with all strength and with divine faith.

Jesus brought divinity, and He made us partakers of that divinity through the divine blood; but without the shedding of that blood, there would be no forgiveness for sins, and we would all be sinners. And almost all things are by the law purged with blood; and without shedding of blood is no remission (Hebrews 9:22).

People who say, “I am still a sinner,” usually are because they believe no one can live free from sin. A sinner is a person who willfully sins against God, yet many still say they are going to Heaven; but what Heaven are they going to? The Lord tells you in the book of Revelation that sin cannot enter His Heaven. And there shall in no wise enter into it [Heaven] anything that defileth, neither whatsoever worketh abomination, or maketh a lie: but they which are written in the Lamb’s book of life (Revelation 21:27). Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the [heavenly] city. For without are dogs, and sorcerers, and whoremongers, and murderers, and idolaters, and whosoever loveth and maketh a lie (Revelation 22:14,15).

The Bible tells us, For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord (Romans 6:23). The soul that sinneth, it shall die (Ezekiel 18:4). Adam and Eve were told that; and when they sinned, they did die. And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat: But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die (Genesis 2:16,17). We have no record that they ever got back to God.

The Word Leads to Heaven

Why do you think the Word left the throne of God and came all the way from Glory to Earth? God loved the Word, and He still does. He loves everybody who loves the Word, and Jesus is coming for them. You have to love the Word with all of your heart to escape the great Tribulation Period that is coming.

When you are in the Word and moving with the Word, you will tithe and give unto God; but when you don’t, you rob Him. Will a man rob God? Yet ye have robbed me. But ye say, Wherein have we robbed thee? In tithes and offerings (Malachi 3:8). If you don’t tithe, the Word says you are like a man trying to fill up a sack with holes. Now therefore thus saith the LORD of hosts; Consider your ways. Ye have sown much, and bring in little; ye eat, but ye have not enough; ye drink, but ye are not filled with drink; ye clothe you, but there is none warm; and he that earneth wages earneth wages to put it into a bag with holes (Haggai 1:5,6).

The Bible is true, and every word of it is given with power. And they were astonished at his [Jesus’] doctrine: for his word was with power (Luke 4:32). For our gospel came not unto you in word only, but also in power (I Thessalonians 1:5). We must speak the Word and not our theories or what we think about something. When we speak the Word and the promises of God, the blessings will come.

You will receive from God if you use the Word. The Word will cleanse sinners and give them a passage to Heaven, but the only way they can get there is through the Word. I [Jesus] am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me (John 14:6). Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that entereth not by the door into the sheepfold, but climbeth up some other way, the same is a thief and a robber (John 10:1).

Salvation only comes through the name of Jesus. Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved (Acts 4:12). The Word also says, For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ (I Corinthians 3:11).

If you try to build on the sand, you will never make it because when the storms come, you will be adrift on the raging sea and be left to drown. And everyone that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand: And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it (Matthew 7:26,27).

Accept the Word

If you are unsaved, pray this prayer right now and come to Jesus today. Oh, God, I am lost. I am without the Word, and I haven’t been bowing to the Word. I don’t worship the Word; I don’t embrace the Word; I don’t love the Word, but I want to be different. I know I am in sin; and I know that if I die, I will go to hell. The Word says so, and I believe it. Please, God, I don’t want to go to hell; I plead for forgiveness! I am so sorry that I have sinned against you and not used the Word. Come into my heart, Jesus! I believe you can wash away all of my sins; it is the Word. You said you would cleanse me, and I believe you are doing it now. I believe the Word. Amen.

The Word Brings Miracles

The Word was what delivered me; and by the Word made flesh, people were delivered from their sins and sicknesses when Jesus was here. Even the dead were raised, and it was something to behold. If you are sick and afflicted, the Word will heal you; so just look up and take your miracle.

It was the Word that made me whole when I thought for sure I was dying at just twenty-three. Now, I am over ninety years of age, and I have been preaching and teaching the Word for more than seventy years. The Word has kept me in wonderful health, and I have seen untold multitudes delivered through the divine Word because Jesus came with healing in His wings. But unto you that fear my name shall the Sun of righteousness arise with healing in his wings (Malachi 4:2).

Now, take your miracles. If you have AIDS, diabetes, cancer or any disease that medical science has not found the cure for, you can be healed today through the blood of the Lamb. Lord, you brought divine blood; and with your blood stripes and the blood you shed at the whipping post, we are cleansed from all sicknesses, diseases and deformities. Heal those with cancer, leprosy, heart trouble, liver trouble, bowel trouble or back trouble. If their feet, legs, head or eyes give them trouble, heal them in the all-powerful name of Jesus. Heal!

The power of the Word is going all through you now, so get well. All deadly diseases melt before the Word. Remember, God said that He had sent His Word and healed the people, and He is ready to heal you right now. Only believe because faith in God heals the sick; but it comes through the Word, and you have to give the Lord all the praise for your miracle. I am just a humble witness, and I believe.

Write and let me know what happened to you today, and I will rejoice with you. God be with you.
