There are nine fruits of the Spirit listed in Galatians 5:22,23, and they are all divine, priceless gifts. When you receive the Holy Ghost, He produces those fruits in your heart if you will yield to Him and allow Him to; and they must be more valuable to you than all the wealth in the world. Without those fruits, you will be like a ship without a sail that is heading into dangerous waters.

This message will examine the fruit of divine patience, which is longsuffering. When Jesus, the very Son of God, came to Earth, He took on a body of human clay just like ours. Because of that, He needed the nine fruits of the Spirit to be produced within Him; and He had to stay yielded to the Father just as we do.

When Jesus was suffering so much in the Garden of Gethsemane, the human part of Him said, Father, if thou be willing, remove this cup from me (Luke 22:42). But through divine longsuffering, He said, Nevertheless not my will, but thine, be done. And there appeared an angel unto him [Jesus] from heaven, strengthening him (Luke 22:42,43). When you are living close to God and have the fruits of the Spirit working in your life, an angel can come and give you strength too. You will be able to endure much when you have divine longsuffering.

Human Patience Gives Up

Human patience is very weak and short-lived while the Lord’s longsuffering is strong and can take much more. Human patience will not always endure until Heaven’s victories come, but divine patience presses on. Human patience won’t wait on God like it should, but divine patience waits in divine love and grace.

Some people claim to have suffered so much when they really have not endured very much or for very long at all. Jesus said, Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake. Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you (Matthew 5:11,12). You can only rejoice when you are being persecuted if you have the fruit of divine patience working in your life and you are taking on more and more divinity every day.

To be able to endure for a long period of time without giving up, the divine fruit of longsuffering must be working in your life. The Bible tells us, He that endureth to the end [not just for a little while] shall be saved (Matthew 10:22). With divine patience, you can wait on God as long as you need to without getting upset.

Some of you will yield to the Lord for only short periods of time before you decide that He really doesn’t love you or care for you after all. You won’t get anywhere with God like that. When you are impatient with Him, He cannot fulfill the scriptures for you because you have tied His hands.

Godly Patience Endures

God has a waiting room just as a doctor does, and divine patience takes you into the Lord’s waiting room. There, you must wait upon Him without grumbling, complaining or getting irritable; and you can only do that when you yield to the Word. If you don’t yield, you will take on the wrong attitudes and think the Lord is not looking out for you.

Being grouchy, irritable and impatient is not the way to get an answer from the Lord, and you can delay God’s answers for you by not having the right attitude. God cannot grant your request when you have the wrong attitude because you won’t have the patience you need to hold on to the Word and claim its promises.

When you are walking in God’s divine will with His longsuffering, you will not grumble to God or anyone else about your journey. Having divinity working within you will take all the complaining out of you, and you will be able to endure because you are steadfast and unmovable. Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord (I Corinthians 15:58).

When trying times come, you may pray and seek God for a while; but without divine patience, you won’t be able to endure for very long. You may have enough patience to take persecution for a little while, but it will soon dry up because human patience does not last. Divine longsuffering is only produced in abundance when you yield to the Holy Spirit and let Him produce it within you. He has to have your cooperation.

It takes divine patience to walk God’s way and please Him in all things in this final hour; but if you are impatient or use patience only some of the time, you will give up. That is not what God wants from you. The Bible says, He that endureth to the end shall be saved (Matthew 10:22). The fruit of longsuffering gives you all the divine patience you need in this life, but you have to use that patience every day.

Don’t Let Worry Hinder You

When you’re worried, you must reach for divine patience; or the Holy Ghost won’t be able to help you. Worry comes to everyone, but you must get rid of it right away by patiently yielding to the Holy Spirit and letting Him work in you through the scriptures. The Bible says, Casting all your care upon him [Jesus]; for he careth for you (I Peter 5:7). Jesus Himself said, Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid (John 14:27). Yield to those scriptures, and they will take away all worry and fretting.

When you don’t yield to the Holy Ghost, you will carry around a troubled heart because you won’t have the patience you need to stay yielded to the Word so the Spirit can deliver you. Divine patience will enable you to wait on God and put all your trust in Him. Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths (Proverbs 3:5,6). There is no trust in worry, and it is not the will of God for you to be worried about anything. Instead, praise God for His blessings, His promises and His great thoughts for you.

When you’re worried, you must get rid of your human thoughts and give over to God’s thoughts and promises. The devil will do everything he can to keep you from doing that because he knows you can’t claim the promises of God when you’re worried and thinking of all the bad things that could possibly take place. That is why it is so important for you to get quiet and reach for divine patience when you’re worried.

This is a good thought of God to use when you are worried: He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the LORD, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust (Psalm 91:1,2). When you dwell in the secret place of the Most High, you will have nothing to fear or worry about. When you abide in the Lord’s shadow, you are sheltered under His wings of love, grace, strength, might, power and greatness; so why are you worried?

The Bible says, And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:7). There is very little peace on Earth today, but great, divine peace can flow to you from every promise and every word of God. If your mind is cluttered with worry, divine peace and patience can override it all if you will just hold on to the Word of the living God and let the Holy Spirit lead you to the exact parts of it you need at that time.

Use the Word

The Word is powerful and great, and the thoughts in it will get rid of worry, impatience and all other wrong attitudes; but it won’t do you any good unless you first study it and hide it in your heart. The Bible says, Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth (II Timothy 2:15). As you study the Bible, you must realize that it is God speaking to you.

Great power will be yours in this last hour if you will use the thoughts of God and the divine patience found in His Word. But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only (James 1:22). The Word is filled with the promises of God; and when you yield to the Word and believe all those promises, you will have promise after promise fulfilled in your life.

You must be patient in spending time with the Word and let the Holy Spirit, the author of the Word, teach you the scriptures. He is the Spirit of truth, and He is the one who will use the power of the truth in the Word to deliver you and set you free. Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come (John 16:13).

The Holy Spirit is a protector for your mind, and He will use the Word to help you get rid of the things the devil is trying to torment you with. Just give over to Him, and He will use the thoughts of God to flush out of your mind whatever is hindering you.

Patience Brings Peace

When you get saved, you receive the peace of God; but you cannot have that peace always working for you without divine patience. You must spend time with the Lord and His Word to receive that kind of peace because it has nothing to do with the world’s peace. Jesus told the disciples, Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. (John 14:27). Divine peace is a great gift from God.

You must allow the Holy Spirit to produce the fruit of peace within you all the time, and then you must use it. Let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful (Colossians 3:15). It is up to you to let divine peace and all the things of God work within you by receiving the whole Word with divine patience. Then let that Word work to bring you out of whatever situation you are in. If you don’t have the patience you need to wait for that to happen, you will look to other people and sources for your help; and you won’t receive the full benefits of the living Word.

The amount of divine patience and peace you have depends on how much your mind is stayed upon the Lord. The Bible says, Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee (Isaiah 26:3). You can only have perfect peace day and night when you put all of your trust in the Lord and in His Word. Great peace have they which love thy law [the Word]: and nothing shall offend them (Psalm 119:165). You must love the Word of God above everything else and let it be life to you.

God Will Supply

But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:19). It takes divine patience to really believe and trust this promise and then calmly wait on the Lord for it to be fulfilled. None of God’s promises are ever fulfilled through grumbling, complaining, worry or doubt; but that doesn’t mean you are to be lazy. The Word says, If any would not work, neither should he eat (II Thessalonians 3:10).

Divine patience helps you to wait upon the Lord for whatever you need without one speck of doubt. They that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint (Isaiah 40:31). When you wait upon the Lord the right way, you can be delivered from anything; but if you wait your own way, you will give up before God moves.

There may be times when you think you have waited on God long enough, but haven’t your thoughts already put you in many worthless situations? You have to get rid of your thoughts and take God’s thoughts. For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD (Isaiah 55:8).

Jesus said, Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment (Matthew 6:25)? Don’t waste time being worried about things that don’t really matter or trying to figure out your life on your own. Instead, turn everything over to God and let Him take care of them. Some people get so caught up with the cares of life that they miss the blessings of God, and you must not do that. You must use God’s thoughts of security and supply and know that the Lord will take care of you and direct you.

Jesus is your way-maker, so you don’t have to worry about what you need because the Lord already knows all about it. So many people make their needs and wants priorities in their life and leave God out, and that is where they miss it. Jesus said, Which of you by taking thought can add one cubit unto his stature (Matthew 6:27)?

Claim Abundant Life

Only in divinity will you find true, abundant life and all things supplied. Jesus said, I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly (John 10:10). You can think about your needs and inabilities, or you can think about how great God is.

There is no life without the Lord—no trust, no assurance and no divine promises. We don’t have the power to keep our hearts beating, our eyes seeing or our ears hearing; but most people don’t think about that until their bodies fail, and they have no God to look to. Jesus said, But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you (Matthew 6:33). You must seek divinity above all else.

We are living in the hour of the great latter day rain of the Spirit. God has patiently waited so long for this hour, and it is finally here. Be patient therefore, brethren, unto the coming of the Lord. Behold, the husbandman [God] waiteth for the precious fruit of the earth, and hath long patience for it, until he receive the early and latter rain. Be ye also patient; stablish your hearts: for the coming of the Lord draweth nigh. (James 5:7,8).

Through divine patience, the saints of the Lord have endured much down through the years; and they were happy in the Lord to do it. Behold, we count them happy which endure. Ye have heard of the patience of Job, and have seen the end of the Lord; that the Lord is very pitiful, and of tender mercy (James 5:11). Those saints were special vessels of honor who were filled with divine patience, and the Lord has chosen you to be a special vessel of honor too.

Job Had Great Patience

God knew His servant Job trusted Him completely and had great divine patience. That is why the Lord was able to say to Satan, Hast thou considered my servant Job, that there is none like him in the earth, a perfect and an upright man, one that feareth God, and escheweth evil? and still he holdeth fast his integrity, although thou movedst me against him, to destroy him without cause (Job 2:3).

God allowed the devil to try Job, and Job went through a horrible time. He lost his possessions, his children and his good health; and even his wife turned against him. Then said his wife unto him, Dost thou still retain thine integrity? curse God, and die (Job 2:9). Nevertheless, Job stood every test.

Study Job and how he patiently endured. Then see how greatly God moved for him when his trial was over. It will show you that you don’t have to be afraid or decide you can’t wait any longer because you will know everything is going to be all right. Paul said, But we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience (Romans 5:3).

When your time of patiently waiting is over, God will move for you just as He did for Job. When Job’s time of longsuffering came to an end, the Lord took over and blessed him with more than he had ever had before. And the LORD turned the captivity of Job, when he prayed for his friends: also the LORD gave Job twice as much as he had before (Job 42:10).

God has great love and tender mercy for His children—think what He must have gone through as He watched Job suffer. I’m sure God wanted to come down and help him many times, but He knew He must not. Job had to be a perfect winner in divine patience and trust, and Job’s great trial has blessed man and woman again and again down through the years.

Be Like Jesus

Jesus used divine patience when He lived on Earth as a man, and He is our example. The Bible says, Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps: Who did no sin, neither was guile found in his mouth: Who, when he was reviled, reviled not again; when he suffered, he threatened not; but committed himself to him that judgeth righteously (I Peter 2:21–23). Everything Jesus did while He was on Earth was for us. He didn’t make even one step for Himself, and you can be like Jesus if you really want to be.

To be like Jesus means to have the same favor of God Jesus had and to serve mercy to others like He did. You will have sorrows and tribulations in this life; but when you face them with divine patience and in God’s way, you will be able to love like Jesus loved and serve divine grace just like He served it. You will be thoughtful of others and have the same helping hands He had no matter what is going on around you. You will have His peace, joy, compassion, goodness and kindness.

Jesus could not have been the God-man He was without divine patience, and that same patience is made available to you. When Jesus became a man, He became related to us; and through His blood, you can be a son or a daughter of God. But as many as received him [Jesus], to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name (John 1:12).

Because of that promise, you can use divinity just like Jesus used it. You can have the same reality of the Father Jesus had, and you can pray and talk to the Father just like He did. Every day, your cry must be, “I want to be just like Jesus.”

God Is Always with You

The devil wants to make you feel alone and forgotten because that brings about depression, despair and all kinds of wrong feelings that will hinder you. Then you will become weak in your spirit and in your body, and the devil will make you think that nobody loves you or cares for you; but that is not a thought of God. His Word says, Yea, I [the Lord] have loved thee with an everlasting love: therefore with lovingkindness have I drawn thee (Jeremiah 31:3).

If God’s love is not being greatly manifested in your life at any one time, you must still know that His love is always yours. Get quiet so you can be drawn to the Word that says, For he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee (Hebrews 13:5). When you are having one thought of despair after another, use a thought of God from the Word to get rid of those thoughts. Then be patient and let God move for you.

Get your mind off people and the fact that you think others have more earthly goods than you do or that they are being blessed more than you are. When you walk with God, you are greatly blessed; so when you feel alone or down and out, let the Lord help you soar above your feelings. Divine patience will help you hold to the Word until you receive more divine strength, help and love than you ever imagined.

The devil wants to separate you from God and from each thought He has for you, so he can back you into a corner of despair. He wants you to count your troubles rather than your blessings because he knows they will make you spiritually weak and discontented. You will start feeling sorry for yourself and stop reaching out for divinity, and you will stop praising God for all He has done for you. If you continue on down that dreary, dark, desolate road, you will find yourself in horrible shape.

Let the Holy Ghost Help You

God has given you all you need to overcome. What more could you ask for than for divine help to be with you all the time? The Lord said, Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness (Isaiah 41:10). When it seems the whole world is coming against you, human patience is not enough. The journey is too rugged; the valleys are too deep, and the mountains are too high for you to make it without divine patience. Godly patience is as strong as Heaven itself.

You have to be careful when times get tough because it is easy to have a weak, human thought or allow a thought of the enemy to enter your mind. You must have divine patience to ward off the thoughts of self and the enemy as well as those of doubters, unbelievers, the disobedient and the lukewarm. Then focus your mind on the Word that says, The eternal God is thy refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms: and he shall thrust out the enemy from before thee; and shall say, Destroy them (Deuteronomy 33:27).

God lifted up His right hand of mercy for the disciples of the Early Church again and again, and they had great victories as long as they used divine patience. That patience took them to the Word, and the promises of God were fulfilled in their lives. Many of those disciples were outcasts who suffered all kinds of persecution. Some had their own families betray them, and others were put to death; but they had the divine patience to wait on God for His strength to help them bear up under it all.

Jesus knew He would be going back to Heaven; and He told the disciples, And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you forever; Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you (John 14:16,17).

That Comforter was the Holy Ghost, and He would live inside each person who would accept Him; but it would take divine patience for that promise to be fulfilled. The disciples would have to go back to Jerusalem and tarry there many days until they received the Holy Spirit. Jesus had told them, Behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you: but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem, until ye be endued with power from on high (Luke 24:49).

You must receive the Holy Ghost as the disciples did. Only then can He flow all the good thoughts of God and all the powers of the blood from your soul into your mind.

You Must Be Saved

Sinner, how can you go on living without God? He wants to give you great, divine patience and abundant life, but you first have to ask Him into your heart. Won’t you do that today? Say the sinner’s prayer with me now: Oh, God, save my soul! I am so sorry I sinned against you, but I have come home; and I am going to serve you, Lord, for the rest of my life. I want to live for you, Lord, and I want your greatness in my life. I want your divine patience, and I want you to guide my footsteps and make plain paths for my feet. I believe the blood of your Son, Jesus, washes away all my sins. Come into my heart, Jesus! Come on in! If you meant that prayer, Jesus has come.

Receive a Miracle

Now that you are saved, you can have a miracle. Job said, I know that thou canst do everything (Job 42:2). Everything includes any healing or miracle you need. You may have AIDS, TB, cancer, paralysis, diabetes, heart trouble or any other affliction; but God can heal it. The Word says, I am the LORD that healeth thee (Exodus 15:26). God sent us the healing Christ who is the same yesterday, and today, and forever (Hebrews 13:8). Jesus is still performing the same miracles today that He did when He walked on Earth. Think on the precious, healing blood of Jesus and receive your miracle today.

Lord, I bring the people before you to be healed by your miracle hand. Jesus, you came and conquered death, hell and the grave; and your holy power cures all diseases and afflictions. I curse the AIDS, diabetes, heart trouble, lung trouble, leprosy, cancer, paralysis and all deformities. Heal and deliver in the all powerful, blood name of Jesus! Heal through the holy blood of Jesus.

God heals for His honor and glory, and He is healing you right now. Let the mighty, healing power of the Lord flow into your body to bring His promise of healing to your life. The Bible says, With his [blood] stripes we are healed (Isaiah 53:5); so get well. And always remember that you have to serve God if you want to keep your miracle. He must have all the glory.
