Himself took our infirmities, and bare our sicknesses (Matthew 8:17). The healings Jesus performed when He walked the earth He will do today. The miracles wrought by His hands then are the same miracles He brings into lives today, for the Bible says, Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and today, and for ever (Hebrews 13:8). He is the same today as He was yesterday; His works are the same. In order to know what Jesus will do today, go to the Scripture and find how He acted yesterday. What did He do when He was here on Earth? He performed miracles wherever they were needed, whenever He found people with faith to believe in the miracles of God.

With five loaves and two fishes Jesus fed a multitude. And they did all eat, and were filled: and they took up of the fragments that remained twelve baskets full (Matthew 14:20).

On another occasion He fed four thousand with seven loaves and a few fishes. He said, I have compassion on the multitude, because they continue with me now three days, and have nothing to eat: and I will not send them away fasting, lest they faint in the way…And he took the seven loaves and the fishes, and gave thanks, and brake them, and gave to his disciples, and the disciples to the multitude. And they did all eat, and were filled: and they took up of the broken meat that was left seven baskets full (Matthew 15:32,36,37).

If people needed healing for their bodies, Jesus performed miracles. A great multitude of people out of all Judea and Jerusalem, and from the sea coast of Tyre and Sidon, which came to hear him, and to be healed of their diseases; And they that were vexed with unclean spirits: and they were healed. And the whole multitude sought to touch him: for there went virtue out of him, and healed them all (Luke 6:17-19). And Jesus went about all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing all manner of sickness and all manner of disease among the people (Matthew 4:23). He was and is the miraculous Christ, the same yesterday, today and forever. He brought that power—and left it here on planet Earth for believers to use.

Authority over All Devils

In the ninth chapter of Luke we read that Jesus gave this miracle power to the twelve. Then He called His twelve disciples together, and gave them power and authority over all devils, and to cure diseases. And he sent them to preach the kingdom of God, and to heal the sick. And they departed, and went through the towns, preaching the gospel, and healing every where (Luke 9:1,2,6). Power to heal the sick, power to cast out devils, power to preach the Gospel, demonstrated the greatness of God to multitudes.

In the tenth chapter of Luke we find that Jesus gave this same miracle power to the seventy and sent them out to heal the sick and to proclaim that the Kingdom of God had come nigh unto them. And the seventy returned again with joy, saying, Lord, even the devils are subject unto us through thy name. And He said unto them, I beheld Satan as lightning fall from heaven. Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you (Luke 10:17-19).

Signs Follow Believers

The power of God wasn’t for only those in Bible days to use. In Mark 16:17,18 we read, And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues…they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover. How will believers do these things?—In the name of Jesus. He has given us His name as well as all the power needed. All the power we need is in that name. Speak the name Jesus in all faith and blinded eyes open, deaf ears become unstopped.

Divine Healing Is Not a Gimmick

Some people watch me closely when I’m praying for the sick; they think surely I must have a gimmick. There’s no gimmick; it’s Jesus all the way, His power. I have no secret powers of my own, but I know Jesus and I know what He said He would do through believers. I always use His name when I’m praying for the sick. I speak the name Jesus and crippled people walk. I use the name Jesus and the blind cry, “I can see!” Who would be so foolish as to think there is no power in the name of Jesus!

All Healing Comes from God

I believe in good doctors, good hospitals. Fine medical care does a great service to mankind, but the healing comes from God. God uses medicines to heal, and He can heal when medicines have no effect. God has put good medicines on the earth for man to use. The Bible declares that a merry heart doeth good like a medicine (Proverbs 17:22). In other words, the Bible endorses good medicines. I believe with all my heart that the Lord has chosen people to be nurses and doctors. I love people that minister to and help the sick and the infirm. If you can no longer help yourself, what a blessing it is for someone to help you! But sometimes man cannot give us all the help we need. Thank God we know Jesus never fails, and He is always ready to help us; so we can joyfully look to the Lord, saying, “Jesus, here I come into your operating room! I need you!”

The Twofold Atonement

But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed (Isaiah 53:5). Jesus brought mankind a twofold atonement, healing for the whole person, salvation for the soul and healing for the body.

Jesus became our sickness-bearer as well as our sin-bearer, but some won’t believe the Lord will heal diseases. Yet when Jesus was here on Earth He demonstrated the greatness of His power to save, heal and deliver by the might of His strength. He healed people by the numbers of all manner of sickness and diseases. He didn’t heal all manner of people; He only healed those who used His faith.

The Psalmist said, Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all His benefits: Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases (Psalm 103:2,3). Again we find the twofold atonement, deliverance for the whole person. God made man; God made woman; and He is concerned about our physical welfare. He thinks so highly of the body that He tells us in I Corinthians 3:16,17, Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you? If any man defile the temple of God, him shall God destroy; for the temple of God is holy, which temple ye are.

The Holy Ghost comes down to live and dwell on the inside of those who will yield to Him and live holy before God.

God didn’t intend for man to carry the loads he carries, the pressures, the strain, the unhappiness. People have nervous breakdowns bearing loads the Lord never meant them to have. But Jesus has the answer for this, too: Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light (Matthew 11:28-30). Rest for the soul, rest for the body, rest for the mind are provided through Jesus by the grace of God.

Troubled minds seem to fill the world today; many are mentally disturbed. Jesus has the answer; Jesus IS the answer. Jesus was made a curse to lift the curse from you: Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree (Galatians 3:13). Along with sin, much of the curse that came upon mankind was sickness.

Blind Man Healed

In the ninth chapter of John we read of a man, blind from birth, who was healed by Jesus. His parents were afraid to tell who had healed him for fear of being put out of the synagogue, but the man who was healed delighted in telling it: One thing I know, that, whereas I was blind, now I see. Then said they to him again, What did He to thee? how opened He thine eyes? He answered them, I have told you already, and ye did not hear: wherefore would ye hear it again? will ye also be His disciples?…Why herein is a marvellous thing, that ye know not from whence he is, and yet he hath opened mine eyes. Now we know that God heareth not sinners: but if any man be a worshipper of God, and doeth his will, him he heareth. Since the world began was it not heard that any man opened the eyes of one that was born blind. If this man were not of God, he could do nothing (John 9:25-27,30-33). For saying these things, the Pharisees cast him out. But he found Jesus and worshipped Him. He was happy. For the first time in his life he could see; and most importantly, his spiritual eyes were opened, too.

Unbelief will be the destruction of many. They received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved. And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie: That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness (II Thessalonians 2:10-12). The Pharisees refused to believe the truth even when that truth was underscored with a miracle.

Without Faith, It’s Impossible to Please God

Believing the Word of God is believing in God’s miracles. God has given everyone a measure of faith to use; but when one chooses not to use that faith, that one is in much trouble. For without faith it is impossible to please him; for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him (Hebrews 11:6). But the…unbelieving…shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death (Revelation 21:8).

Doubting God, not believing in Him, is a sin. There is no such thing as healthy doubt; all doubt is unbelief. Jesus spoke no doubt; there is no doubt in God or the Holy Ghost—only in man. Doubt will defeat and eventually destroy you if allowed to remain. Doubt has sent millions to hell and is sending millions more. Doubt has kept many afflicted, But God’s faith has the cure, faith, that brings good health to soul, mind and body. I certainly am not saying that you will go to hell if you do not receive a miracle from God; but if you remain sick, you are living beneath your privilege as a child of God.

A Syrophoenician woman came to Jesus one day, seeking healing for her daughter, begging for a crumb. In speaking to her, Jesus referred to healing as the children’s bread. Healing is our bread, too—we who are children of God—our daily bread. It’s always on the table. Anytime you need healing, you can turn to the Lord and find it.

Healing in the Old Testament

Throughout the Old Testament we find God healing people. Healing isn’t something new. Many, many years ago—thousands in fact—Abraham prayed for a man and his family. So Abraham prayed unto God: and God healed Abimelech, and his wife, and his maidservants (Genesis 20:17). In Deuteronomy 7:15 we read that the Lord will take away from thee all sickness. For I am the Lord that healeth thee (Exodus 15:26). Then in Moses’ day we find Moses praying for his sister Miriam’s leprosy. And Moses cried unto the Lord, saying, Heal her now, O God, I beseech thee (Numbers 12:13). Miriam was sent out of the camp seven days; and when she returned, she was whole.

Because the Israelites were dying from the bites of fiery serpents, the Lord told Moses to make a serpent of brass and set it upon a pole: and it shall come to pass, that every one that is bitten, when he looketh upon it, shall live. And Moses made a serpent of brass, and put it upon a pole, and it came to pass, that if a serpent had bitten any man, when he beheld the serpent of brass, he lived (Numbers 21:8,9). They just looked at the serpent on the pole, a type of Christ on the Cross, a type of the Atonement of Christ on the Cross. They didn’t pay for it; they didn’t have to wait; life was theirs just for a look. They looked and lived. We can look to Jesus today and live. Just look in faith and live. Remember, it’s a twofold atonement.

No Sickness Comes from God

Jesus came to destroy the works of the devil. Most of the work of Christ was healing the sick. Jesus attributes sickness to the works of Lucifer when He says in Luke 13:16, Ought not this woman, being a daughter of Abraham, whom Satan hath bound, lo, these eighteen years, be loosed from this bond on the sabbath day? He didn’t say, “This woman who hath a love-token from the Lord should be grateful for it.” He didn’t stoop down and whisper, “Dear lady, you with arthritis crippling you until you cannot stand upright, it’s the will of the Father for you to be like this. He sent me to let you know it’s His love-token.” No. Jesus set her free; He healed her. That’s love; that’s God’s love. She was made whole.

As long as you look upon your sickness as a love-token from the Lord, you will be sick. But the Bible tells us that every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning (James 1:17).

Do you really consider sickness a good gift? Is there such a thing as a perfect sickness, a perfect cancer? If not, then those things do not come from God. Some people say to rejoice if God “gives” you sickness. How stupid! At no place does the Bible tell you to rejoice over sickness. God did not make sickness; He does not give it, and He does not expect us to rejoice over being sick. Sickness, all sickness, comes from the devil. It entered when man sinned against God in the Garden of Eden.

I didn’t rejoice when I was sick; I rejoiced the night Jesus came and healed me. Jesus made me well, and I am still exuberant over it.

God wants the soul and the body to be healthy more than you want health for your children. Just because you see sick Christians, it doesn’t mean sickness is the will of God. It means that when man fell from grace in the Garden of Eden, sin and sickness entered the human race. Sickness is totally the devil’s doing and not God’s. In fact, outside of Eden God has not been able to perform all His will; but one day, in His Kingdom, He will perform all of His will.

In Faith, Touch Jesus

You may think you have no one to help you, but Jesus is your Helper. A man lying on a cot, waiting for an angel to come down to trouble the waters so he could be the first person entering the waters to be healed, needed that Helper—and found Him. That Helper is just as eager to comfort and heal you today as He was to deliver that man by the pool.

As many as touched him were made whole (Mark 6:56). Faith tells you that you can reach out and touch the Lord; you can cry out to Him and know that He is the Lord, that He has healing for mind, body and soul, for the whole man. Know that you can have all that you need. For in him [Christ] dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily. And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power (Colossians 2:9,10). You are complete in Him, complete in the One who contains the fullness of the Godhead. In Jesus you have everything you need: joy, gladness, love, hope, faith, healing for soul, mind and body.

Just reach out to touch Him and gladness will come to your heart. Some of you are seeking so hard to find happiness—you thought a beautiful home would make you happy. You bought that, and now you’re still searching. A new car in your new garage is all you need, you think. You found a new car, but not lasting happiness. I’ll take a vacation; I’ll be happy then. It didn’t work.

Look to Jesus if you want happiness. He is the cure. Look to Jesus and let the Holy Spirit change your way of thinking through prayer, fasting and living in the Word of God. Jesus said, I am truth, I am life—and He meant it. Without Him there is no real life. Without Him you simply are not complete.

He Is with You Always

When tragedy comes and no human hands can help, you need the hands of the Master. He healeth the broken in heart, and bindeth up their wounds (Psalm 147:3). The hands of the Master are available if you put your trust in Him while the sun is still shining, for then when the crises come you will know how to pray.

I never expect to fear another storm of life because I learned how to pray while the sun was shining. I know Him, and my hand is in His. I know He will either separate the waters of life or else help me walk those waters. He will do the same thing for you. He loves you; He loves to see you reaching for His joy He so willingly gives.

But even God cannot help those who doubt Him, those who are always crying, “God, where are you?” God is saying, “Why, Child, I’m right here! I’m right here with you through Jesus Christ my Son!” Lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world (Matthew 28:20). Through the power of the Holy Spirit, He is with His children at all times. Come to Him. He offers healing for the soul, healing for the body, healing for the mind. As many as touch Him today in faith believing will receive their miracle. Reach out through faith and touch Him, touch Him; keep your mind on the love and grace of your Jesus, and He’ll meet your need. It’s wonderful to feel the touch of Jesus.

Wilt thou be made whole? Jesus asks. He makes it so simple. Just take up your bed and walk. Jesus speaks words of faith through His Word. Will you listen to those words or to someone who doubts God, a voice from the past saying that the days of miracles are over? When you hear a person say, “God doesn’t heal today,” or, “You can’t have a healing from the Lord,” tune out those voices before they hurt your faith, destroy you, cause you to sink into deeper bondage. Let the voice of the Lord drown out all doubt and unbelief.

Look to God; be grateful for the help you receive from man, but always look to God. It is His will for you to be well. The Lord wants you healthy, happy. He has proven it again and again in His Word. He has told you about a Heaven of no sickness where the hand of God will wipe away all tears. But you don’t just have to look at promises for the future; you can have great happiness in the Lord on this journey. Healing for soul, mind and body are available today; and that’s enough to keep you happy.

If we are going to preach the Bible today, it must be the twofold atonement. Take the Word of God and study it for yourself. Pray, “Come Holy Spirit, be my Teacher.” Jesus said, But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you (John 14:26). The Comforter is the Spirit of Truth, and He will teach you the Word of God. He is the Author of the Word; He knows how to explain. When the Holy Spirit explains the Word of God to you, it becomes alive. It reaches out to destroy sickness and sin, to take care of that troubled mind the way Jesus brought peace to a troubled sea.

To so many tortured minds, Jesus is saying, Peace be still. Be still and peace comes. Be still, tormented one, and know that I am God. Peace be still and it happens. Those who are tortured and tormented in mind suddenly find calm, suddenly find deliverance.

Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth (III John 2). Deliverance for soul, mind and body is offered you today. I bring you Jesus, the Christ who took your sicknesses, the Christ who took your sins. Look at Him, the sin-bearer, the sick-bearer. He’s Jesus of Nazareth. Get ready for your miracle, your healing. The Lord is ready to heal your soul, mind and body. Take complete healing for the whole you. He is there to dry your tears when no human hand can; and He seeks to hug you close to Him in this your final hour, breathing upon you with joy, peace, strength and health.

Let Him purge you daily of all doubt and fear through His Holy Word. As you live night and day in His promises, you will see those promises fulfilled, healing for the whole person. But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: The chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed (Isaiah 53:5).

Anointed by the Holy Ghost

God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him (Acts 10:38). Jesus was anointed by the Holy Ghost. Before He had fasted forty days and nights, the Holy Ghost descended upon Him in the form of a dove. Jesus Himself said, The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised, To preach the acceptable year of the Lord (Luke 4:18,19). Jesus was anointed to heal the sick as well as preach the Gospel. When He touched the twelve, the seventy, He gave them that anointing. Always remember that He is the same today, yesterday and forever. He heals, He gives anointings, He frees the oppressed today, too. He anoints His children to minister His twofold atonement to the people.

Just before Jesus ascended into Heaven He led the disciples out as far as Bethany, saying, And, behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you: but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem, until ye be endued with power from on high (Luke 24:49). Tarry in Jerusalem until you receive the anointing from the Holy Ghost. But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you (Acts 1:8). In obedience to the Master, the disciples went to the Upper Room in Jerusalem; and they received the gift of the Holy Ghost. It gave them the power for service they needed.

Going forth in the power of the Holy Ghost—that anointing He received in the Upper Room to heal the sick—Simon is heard saying, Silver and gold have I none; but such as I have give I thee: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up and walk (Acts 3:6).

The Holy Ghost, Your Teacher

Did Jesus preach healing for the soul, healing for the body? Certainly He did. The Early Church followed in His steps. We find them healing the sick, leading people to Calvary where sins were washed away.
