Many people, including Christians, believe and profess it is impossible to be like Jesus; but He said, He that taketh not his cross, and followeth after me, is not worthy of me (Matthew 10:38). To follow after Jesus is to live like Jesus.

Jesus came to Earth to bring salvation and eternal life to the human race and to be our example. He showed us how to live the victorious life on Earth, and the footprints He left in the New Testament show the path that every true disciple of Christ must follow. For even hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps: Who did no sin, neither was guile found in his mouth (I Peter 2:21,22).

The divine blood that flowed in Jesus’ body and soul enabled Him to live a life free of sin. Day by day, He took steps of holiness, godliness, divine love and divine faith. He took steps of grace, mercy, goodness and sacrifice.

That same divine blood that flowed in Jesus’ veins when He was on Earth flows in the soul of every child of God. Divine blood is as much a part of them as it was a part of Jesus when He walked the Earth as the Son of man. Therefore, through the divine blood, children of God have the same benefits and the same power available to them that Jesus had. Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new (II Corinthians 5:17).

When you are washed in the blood, your old ways of living, talking, acting and thinking are gone. You are walking in the new and living way and following in the footsteps of Jesus. Having therefore, brethren, boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus, By a new and living way, which he hath consecrated for us, through the veil, that is to say, his flesh (Hebrews 10:19,20).

The Power of Truth

At the end of His journey on Earth, Jesus prayed a very special prayer for His disciples of that day as well as for all those who would follow in His steps in the future. That prayer can be found in John 17; and in it, Jesus prayed to the Father saying, Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth (John 17:17).

There is great power in truth that will set you apart from this sinful world and all of its corruption. That power will sanctify you and make you holy unto the Lord without any contamination of sin, deceit or seduction. Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy (I Peter 1:16).

When truth abides in your life, it will sanctify you, make you holy and enable you to bear fruit for the Kingdom of God. Jesus said, If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you. Herein is my Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit; so shall ye be my disciples (John 15:7,8).

To bear fruit, you must be a doer of truth and not a hearer only. But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves (James 1:22).

Let Your Light Shine

Going back to Jesus’ prayer in John 17, He said, As thou hast sent me into the world, even so have I also sent them into the world (John 17:18). We are IN the world, but we are not to be OF the world. Just as the heavenly Father sent Jesus into the world, Jesus is sending His disciples into the world. His footsteps will lead us to the souls marked for us to win, souls lost and undone in the darkness of sin, deceit and ignorance.

When Jesus walked this Earth, His life was a light of truth to all people He came in contact with. The people which sat in darkness saw great light; and to them which sat in the region and shadow of death light is sprung up (Matthew 4:16). Today, Christ’s light must shine through all those who are walking in His footsteps. Jesus said, Ye are the light of the world…Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven (Matthew 5:14,16).

Those good works include loving thy neighbor as thyself, sharing the Gospel with those in need, doing unto others as you would have them do unto you and praying for the sick to be healed and the devil possessed to be set free. Jesus declared, Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father (John 14:12).

Receive the Holy Ghost

The divine light of Jesus will not shine through you, and you will not accomplish His works unless you follow Jesus’ example and receive the baptism of the Holy Ghost. Jesus received the Spirit when John the Baptist baptized Him in Jordan, and He did not start His ministry without it. And John bare record, saying, I saw the Spirit descending from heaven like a dove, and it abode upon him [Jesus] (John 1:32).

Jesus instructed His disciples about receiving the Holy Ghost saying, And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you forever; Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you (John 14:16,17).

After receiving the Holy Ghost, Jesus was led by the Spirit into the wilderness to fast 40 days and nights. When it was over, Jesus came forth declaring, The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised, To preach the acceptable year of the Lord (Luke 4:18,19).

When you walk in the footsteps of Jesus, you can have that same anointing; but Jesus declared that His delivering power would only work through His disciples by prayer and fasting. This kind can come forth by nothing, but by prayer and fasting (Mark 9:29). That power tears down the strongholds of Satan and brings deliverance to the devil possessed. It heals those who are sick and bound in their bodies. The Bible tells us, For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal [not earthly or of the flesh], but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds (II Corinthians 10:4).

Have the Mind of Christ

When you follow closely in the footsteps of Jesus, you will act like Jesus, talk like Jesus, live like Jesus and work like Jesus; but you must have the same mind Jesus possessed when He was on Earth. The Word tells us, We have the mind of Christ (I Corinthians 2:16). Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus (Philippians 2:5).

Jesus came to Earth as divinity wrapped in a body of flesh, and He took on a human mind like we have. What separated His mind from that of a normal human mind were the unique and special, divine ingredients in His mind. Since Calvary, the grace of God has given every child of God the opportunity to possess those same divine ingredients in their human mind, so they can follow Jesus in everything. Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me (Matthew 16:24).

You Can Overcome

It is not easy to follow in the footsteps of Jesus, and that is why so few people have done that down through the years. Many may have claimed to be followers of Christ, but claiming to follow Him and actually following Him are entirely different.

There may be times when you don’t feel like following the Lord, working for Him, sacrificing for Him or suffering for Him; but God says in His Word that you are to deny your feelings because the just [those who are justified in the eyes of God] shall live by faith (Galatians 3:11). That verse does not say use divine faith or let it work on occasion. To follow in the footsteps of Jesus and fall in line with Him completely, you must LIVE by divine faith every day.

Jesus warned, In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world (John 16:33). Rejoice in the fact that Jesus was an overcomer and know that you can overcome too if you are following in His footsteps; however, you will not walk in His steps for very long if you choose to live in self and by your feelings. Eventually, you will draw back on Him. Paul said, Now the just shall live by faith: but if any man draw back, my soul shall have no pleasure in him (Hebrews 10:38).

Be Willing to Suffer for Christ

Now, don’t think that the closer you get to God the rosier and more wonderful things will be. Paul said, For if we be dead [dead to self] with him [Christ], we shall also live with him: If we suffer, we shall also reign with him: if we deny him, he also will deny us (II Timothy 2:11,12).

Jesus suffered, and you will suffer too as you become more and more like Him. You will be persecuted as He was persecuted, and you will have to fight devils as He fought them because you are walking in His footsteps. If you are seeking an easy road in this life, following in the steps of Jesus is not for you; but if you don’t follow His steps, you won’t make it to Heaven.

There will be times when Jesus’ footsteps will lead you into a valley or a trial of your faith, so never think you have lost your way when all looks wrong. As long as you are following in the steps of Jesus, know that He has put you in that valley for a purpose because He trusts you. Peter said, Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you: But rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of Christ’s sufferings; that, when his glory shall be revealed, ye may be glad also with exceeding joy (I Peter 4:12,13).

When you are down in a valley, don’t sit there and feel sorry for yourself. Instead, look around and see the souls marked for you to win. Look for those who need the Jesus touch, those to whom you can be a blessing or an encouragement. If you are not willing to sacrifice and follow Jesus’ steps into a valley, you will never come across the souls who need your help.

Jesus, Our Burden Bearer

Jesus gave a great invitation to all people saying, Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest (Matthew 11:28). Are you following in the footsteps of Jesus and unloading all of your burdens on Him? When you do that, He will take your burdens because He wants you to be free to help your brothers and sisters in Christ carry their burdens. Paul said, Bear ye one another’s burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ (Galatians 6:2).

If you are seeking to unload your burdens just so you can be free to do what you want to do, that is not following in the footsteps of Jesus. Every time you help someone out of a valley, you will find yourself being lifted up as well because God, the Son and the Holy Spirit will help you with yours.

Jesus declared to His followers, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. And these signs shall follow them that believe…they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover (Mark 16:15,17,18). This is a Jesus ministry; and through the power of technology, we are taking His Gospel all over the world in this final hour with signs, wonders, miracles and healings.

The message of the Gospel is the same today as it was in Jesus’ day. He forgave a woman who was caught in the act of adultery and told her to go, and sin no more (John 8:11). He healed a crippled man and then told him, Behold, thou art made whole: sin no more, lest a worse thing come unto thee (John 5:14). Jesus never told people to do something they couldn’t do without providing them the power they needed to do it. People can live free from sin through the power of the divine blood and the power of the Holy Ghost if they want to. If they choose not to, they can expect even worse consequences to come upon their life.

You Must Be Born Again

Jesus answered and said unto him [Nicodemus], Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God (John 3:3). The born-again experience is not being physically reborn but spiritually reborn. Your inner man, not your outer man, is reborn and made new through the power in the divine blood of Jesus.

When Jesus was on Earth, He performed many wonderful miracles—healing all manner of sickness and disease, walking the waters, calming the angry seas, multiplying the loaves and fishes, delivering the devil possessed and so much more—but the greatest miracle was the miracle of salvation. There is no greater miracle than when men, women, boys or girls humble themselves before Him; and He forgives them of their sins and makes them new. Then they have the power to go forth free from sin.

The power over all sin was born over 2000 years ago in Bethlehem, yet so many who profess to be Christians deny the Virgin Birth. That is deceit because they are denying the divinity of Jesus Christ and the power in His divine blood. That leaves them with only a form of godliness that Paul spoke of. Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away (II Timothy 3:5).

Find Jesus Today

People today are forever searching for God’s reality and power and His miracle supply, and they continually come up lacking. They never find Jesus for their needs even though the Word of God declares, My God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:19). Many people need to stop in their tracks and examine the path they are traveling. Are they following in the footsteps of Jesus and living like Him, or is there sin in their life? Have they truly taken up their cross and denied self?

When you walk in the footsteps of Jesus, the Lord becomes easy to find. The Word says, Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you (James 4:8). But you must make the first move to search Him out and draw nigh unto Him.

Friend, are you following in the footsteps of Jesus? When you look into the mirror of God’s Word, do you see the reflection of Jesus or the reflection of your selfish ways and desires? Do you see the image of Jesus and God’s true righteousness and holiness or an image of sin and disobedience?

If there is anything in your life unlike Jesus, there is power in His divine blood to set you free and give you a new life. Say the sinner’s prayer located on page 5 of this magazine, and that divine blood will set your feet on a new path that leads to Heaven.
