When God created man and woman, He gave them the power of reason; but it’s up to each one of us to reason things out with God. To “reason” means to use the mental powers needed to form conclusions and judgments. Without the power of reason, we would not be able to make good or sound decisions.

The problem with society and mankind today is they don’t reason with God. Instead, they reason with the thoughts and opinions of man and the devil. They reason with their physical senses and not their spiritual senses, meaning they go only by what they can physically see, hear and touch.

You have to reason with God through the spiritual senses. You have to trust what God says in His Word, knowing it is true and eternal even if you can’t physically see it; and that is called faith. None of us can see Jesus in His physical form, but you must have faith to believe that He is the Son of God who came down to die on the Cross for our sins.

Down through the ages, God has been trying to make mankind reason with Him and not with self, other people or the devil. The Bible says, Come now, and let us reason together, saith the LORD: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool (Isaiah 1:18). God wants us to reason with Him so we can gain all the benefits of Heaven.

Let the Spirit Show You the Way

Unfortunately, God no longer seems to have much influence over the decisions people are making in this world, and you can see the devastating results of that. Look around, and you will see that our world has become like the days of Noah and the days of Sodom and Gomorrah. Are you comfortable with the way things are in this world, or are you vexed like Lot was before God destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah with fire and brimstone?

The Lord said, “Come now and let us reason together.” That is a very simple statement, but are you reasoning with God when it comes to making decisions in your life? The Lord wants us to reason with Him and not with man, the devil or self.

The Holy Spirit was given to us by God to help us reason with Him. Do you trust the Holy Spirit to show you divine direction in all things? He can feed your mind God’s thoughts and uncover things you need to know to protect you and keep you on the straight and narrow path. You need to take everything to the Word and let the Holy Spirit uncover the deepness of God’s wisdom, knowledge and direction. It is so important for you to be in harmony with the Holy Spirit and God’s Word because you can’t believe everything you hear and see.

You Must Obey God

There is an example in the Old Testament of a man who failed to hold on to the truth from God, and it cost him his life. It’s a very sad story, but it lets you know how careful you have to be in your walk with the Lord. You can’t let what others are doing influence you or make you lose sight of the direction you receive from the Lord.

In I Kings 13, God instructed a man of God to go before King Jeroboam to speak judgment against the altar in Bethel. King Jeroboam had sinned against God by setting up two golden calves for the children of Israel to worship—one in Bethel and one in Dan. God was angry because it had caused the children of Israel to go into idol worship, so the man of God was there to deliver a message of judgment from the Lord to King Jeroboam.

And it came to pass, when king Jeroboam heard the saying of the man of God, which had cried against the altar in Bethel, that he put forth his hand from the altar, saying, Lay hold on him. And his hand, which he put forth against him, dried up, so that he could not pull it in again to him. And the king answered and said unto the man of God, Entreat now the face of the LORD thy God, and pray for me, that my hand may be restored me again. And the man of God besought the LORD, and the king’s hand was restored him again, and became as it was before (I Kings 13:4,6).

Never Stray from God’s Way

One minute, the king was ready to lay hold on the man of God; and the next minute, he was begging the man to pray for him to receive a miracle. The man of God did pray for the king, and the king’s hand was restored. The king was so happy that he invited the man of God to go home with him to receive a reward.

The man of God answered the king saying, If thou wilt give me half thine house, I will not go in with thee, neither will I eat bread nor drink water in this place: For so was it charged me by the word of the LORD, saying, Eat no bread, nor drink water, nor turn again by the same way that thou camest. So he went another way, and returned not by the way that he came to Bethel (I Kings 13:8-10). The man of God knew exactly what the Lord wanted him to do.

The Bible goes on to say that an old prophet of Bethel heard about what had happened between the man of God and the king and what God had commanded the man of God to do, so he sought out the man of God and invited him to his house. At first, the man of God repeated what he had told the king about what the Lord had instructed him to do, but the old prophet lied and told the man of God he had received word from the Lord through an angel that he was to go to his house to eat bread and drink water.

Unfortunately, the man of God listened to the old prophet, and he went home with him. He didn’t stop to reason with God but instead reasoned with man, and he made the wrong decision. Later, the Bible tells us that the Lord declared judgment on the man of God; and as he left to return home, a lion killed him.

Rebellion Brings Destruction

The man of God was steadfast in the instructions the Lord had given him until he was deceived by that old prophet. Today, the Lord gives us instructions and commandments in His Bible, and we are supposed to obey them no matter what someone else tells us.

If you do not obey, the end result will be death just like it was for that man of God. The Bible clearly says, For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord (Romans 6:23). The Lord had told that man three simple things he was not to do, and he failed in all three of them. Why?—because he did not reason with God but with man.

Paul said, But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed (Galatians 1:8). If someone tells you to do something that goes against the Word of God, you need to choose the way of the Word of God and not the way of that person.

It may seem harsh that the man of God was killed for just eating, drinking and returning home the wrong way; but you have to realize that the man rebelled against the Word of the Lord when he decided to listen to the old prophet instead of to God. The following scripture tells you what God thinks about a person who rebels against Him: For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry (I Samuel 15:23).

Speak Unto Edification

Down through the years, many people have been steered in the wrong direction by others. Why would you listen to a person rather than to the Holy Spirit? The devil is going to send people your way to tell you all kinds of things because he wants to tear down children of God and divide the church. You must be aware of those the devil is using and run the other way.

God will reason with you in your prayer time if there is something you need to do or someone you need to stay away from. Then you must follow His instructions with wisdom and grace, so you don’t become a stumbling block to any soul. You must trust the Holy Spirit to show you what you need to know.

When someone tries to tear down a child of God, ask yourself if you would want someone to say those things about you. When someone tries to imply something about a child of God that isn’t right, ask yourself if you would want someone to imply to others you are failing God.

The bottom line is that you need to speak things that are edifying. The Word of God tells us, Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers (Ephesians 4:29). The devil loves it when a person who is supposed to be a child of God discredits another child of God. Satan’s tactics haven’t changed from the beginning of time.

God Is the Only Judge

In the Garden of Eden, the serpent twisted God’s words to make it look like God wasn’t telling the truth; and Eve believed the serpent. And the woman said unto the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden: But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die. And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die (Genesis 3:2-4). That was a lie; and when Eve sinned, she did die a spiritual death.

Never listen to serpent talk; listen only to the Lord and reason with Him. Take everything to the Word of God knowing that He is not the author of confusion. What are you listening to today? Good people are being hurt and even destroyed as the result of idle talk and gossip. If you know someone is hurting the work of God, don’t talk about them; pray for them. God knows and sees everything; and because He is a merciful God, He will give people the chance to repent and correct their ways. How many souls have been hindered and cast aside because they weren’t treated with divine love and kindness?

I am not saying you should condone people’s sinful ways, but you must not judge them. You must let your light shine for Jesus, so lost souls can be drawn to a better way. When you are sensitive to the Holy Spirit, He will let you know those you need to limit your time with. You have to be yielded to the Spirit all the time and reason with the Lord.

Show Love to Others

You can never go wrong by showing love to others, but you can go wrong if you don’t show love. When all the nations are gathered together before Jesus right before the Perfect Age begins, the Bible tells us, And he [the Lord] shall separate them one from another, as a shepherd divideth his sheep from the goats: And he shall set the sheep on his right hand, but the goats on the left. Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world: For I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in: Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me (Matthew 25:32-36).

The Bible goes on to say that the righteous asked, “Lord, when did we do all these things?” And the Lord said, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me (Matthew 25:40). That parable then ends with, And these [the unrighteous] shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal (Matthew 25:46). The righteous entered into everlasting life because they had showed love. The unrighteous went into everlasting punishment because they didn’t show love.

Reason with God and Be Saved

The Lord has given us the power to reason, so are you reasoning with Him today; or are you reasoning with man and the devil? The only way to reason things out the right way is to reason them out with God through prayer, fasting and living in the Word. Paul left Timothy with great advice when he said, Take heed unto thyself, and unto the doctrine; continue in them: for in doing this thou shalt both save thyself, and them that hear thee (I Timothy 4:16). You need to take heed to yourself and make sure you continue in the faith.

Friend, if you don’t have Jesus Christ in your heart, take time to reason with God and let Him know you are sorry for all the sins you have committed. He wants to give you a new life. Read this verse again: Come now, and let us reason together, saith the LORD: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool (Isaiah 1:18).

Salvation comes through the blood of Jesus Christ, so don’t reason with the devil and let him make you think you can’t be set free. The Bible says, And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free (John 8:32). The devil is going to try to get you to put off salvation for another day; but the Bible says, Behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation (II Corinthians 6:2).

Friend, today is your opportunity to receive Jesus Christ into your heart. You’re not promised tomorrow, so don’t put it off another day. Pray with me, and say, Oh, God, save my soul. Forgive me for my sins. I have come home to serve you the rest of my life. I believe the blood of Jesus washes away all of my sins. Come into my heart, Jesus. Come on in, Jesus. Amen. Friend, if you meant that prayer, you have Jesus Christ in your heart.

Now that you are blood washed, it’s time to receive the baptism of the Holy Ghost with the evidence of speaking in tongues as the Spirit gives the utterance. All you have to do is say the word “glory.” As you are looking to Jesus and sending those glories up to Him with all of your heart, the Holy Spirit will come in, take over your tongue and speak in a heavenly language.

Reach Out for a Miracle

Jesus is not just the Savior but also the Healer, so let’s get a miracle for you right now. It doesn’t matter what sicknesses or diseases are in your body. God made you; He can heal you. The Bible says, And these signs shall follow them that believe…they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover (Mark 16:17,18). Let’s pull down Heaven together for you.

Lord, Heavenly Father, you know what each person’s need is. Break their bondages and set them free, in the blood name of Jesus Christ, I pray. Heal them in the holy blood-name of Jesus. We curse every sickness and disease in their bodies, and let everything come to normal. And, Lord, give them all the strength they need. Wrap your loving arms around them, and let them feel your holy presence come upon them, in the blood name of Jesus. Amen.
