When God made Adam and Eve and put them in the Garden of Eden, there were no sicknesses or diseases in their bodies; and it was His plan for them to stay that way. There were no diseases in the animals or plants either, so life was abundant and great; but everything changed when they sinned.

Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned (Romans 5:12). When Adam sinned against God, sin and sickness entered the human body; and they are now a part of life. That’s why the human race needed a Savior, and that Savior is Jesus Christ.

The Bible says, For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil (I John 3:8). Sin and sickness are works of the devil, and Jesus brought deliverance from all sin and sickness. But please understand that if you are sick, it doesn’t mean you have sinned. There are many righteous people in this world who have gotten sick, but it’s not because they have sinned. Many babies get sick, but those babies didn’t sin.

Adam’s sin is what brought sickness into this world; and because of that, many godly people have been afflicted. Sickness doesn’t come from God; it comes from the devil. It’s sad that some people will blame God when they get sick or a loved one gets sick; but God gets no glory from someone being sick, and He gets no glory out of someone sinning against Him. That’s why God’s plan of salvation was a twofold atonement—Jesus brought healing for the soul and healing for the mind and body. He wants to wash you clean and heal you of everything.

The Plan of Salvation Brought Life

Heaven’s plan of redemption didn’t come about without sacrifice, and Jesus made the ultimate sacrifice for you and me. God knew what the price for that sacrifice would be, and so did Jesus; but that didn’t make it any easier. Put yourself in Jesus’ position: You know you’re going to die a painful death by crucifixion. Different religious groups are making false accusations against you, and people are lying about you just to further their agenda. You know people will be beating you and spitting on you, and you know many of your followers and closest friends will turn away from you.

It would be easy to think, “Why should I go through all this pain and suffering for so many ungrateful people? It is not worth it.’ But Jesus knew His suffering would bring forgiveness to all who would accept the truth and receive Him.

Salvation brought healing for soul, mind and body to everyone. It starts with asking Jesus Christ into your heart, but many people limit the plan of salvation to being just for their soul when the Lord wants to heal them of everything.

Child of God, why stop at salvation when you can be healed of everything? The Bible tells us, Jesus went about all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every sickness and every disease among the people (Matthew 9:35). There is nothing too hard for the Lord, but you have to believe that. You have to trust Him and put your faith into action.

Use Your Faith

The Bible says, God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith (Romans 12:3). All you have to do is use that measure of faith and believe without any doubt. Doubt and unbelief will keep you from receiving from the Lord. When Jesus was in His own country, the Bible tells us, He did not many mighty works there because of their unbelief (Matthew 13:58).

We have the phrase “childlike faith’ because young children believe everything their parents tell them. That is the same type of faith you must have to receive a miracle from the Lord. You must believe 100% that you can receive no matter what your need is or what incurable disease you have. The Lord can do the impossible in your life.

One night, the disciples were out on the sea in a storm; and they saw Jesus walking on the water toward them. Peter called to Him, Lord, if it be thou, bid me come unto thee on the water (Matthew 14:28). Peter had the faith to ask, but he had to put that faith into action. I can just see Peter putting one leg over the side of the boat and then the other leg. When he was standing on the water, I’m sure the other disciples were very surprised. Then he started taking steps away from the security of the boat and toward Jesus. Each step was a faith step.

Have No Doubt

When you use your faith to receive a miracle, the devil will try to rob you of it. He will do anything he can to get you to take your eyes off Jesus. That’s what he did with Peter. I’m sure the waves were rough because the Bible says the wind was boisterous, and that was the distraction the devil wanted. When Peter began looking at his circumstances instead of at Jesus, that’s when he started to doubt and sink. Then he cried, Lord, save me (Matthew 14:30).

The devil will try to rob you of your miracle through fear and doubt just like he did Peter. When you let those things into your mind, you open yourself up to the devil’s mind battles. Then he can get you to stop focusing on Jesus so you will lose what you have received through faith.

If Peter had kept his eyes on Jesus and not on the circumstances around him, he would not have started to sink. The Lord doesn’t want you to lose what He has given you, and that’s why it’s important for you to use your faith. When Jesus got to Peter and saved him, He said, O thou of little faith, wherefore didst thou doubt (Matthew 14:31)? When the Lord gives you a miracle, never doubt it. Peter was able to walk on water; but when he let fear and doubt in, he sank.

False Symptoms Are of the Devil

I have seen people get a miracle; and the next day, they feel a little pain. That is a false symptom from their affliction. False symptoms are one of the devil’s tricks he uses to hinder your faith and get your eyes off Jesus. Jonah called them lying vanities. They that observe lying vanities forsake their own mercy (Jonah 2:8).

It is important for you to focus on Jesus and not on your false symptoms. Hold on to your miracle; and don’t sink into the sea of discouragement, fear and doubt. Your faith is going to be tested; but no matter how long that test may be, the Bible says, Resist the devil, and he will flee from you (James 4:7).

Even if you have a deadly disease in your body, the Lord wants to heal you of everything. He also wants you to live free from sin through the blood of Jesus. The Lord doesn’t want to heal you of cancer so you can go back out and smoke; He wants to heal you so you will give Him the glory for what He has done. The Lord wants to move in your life, and He wants you to be a living testimony for Him. He wants you to let your light shine so you can be a blessing and help spread the Gospel to others.

Jairus Believed and Received

There was a ruler in the synagogue named Jairus who went to Jesus and fell at His feet because his twelve-year-old daughter was dying. Jairus wanted Jesus to go to his house and heal his daughter. As they were making their way there, Jesus suddenly stopped and asked, Who touched me (Luke 8:45)? It was a woman with an issue of blood who had touched Jesus’ garment in faith. Jairus then witnessed that woman receive a great miracle.

I’m sure that miracle helped build his faith, but I’m sure he also was concerned about his daughter who was in a dying condition. He was believing and trusting in Jesus that they would get there in time.

Just then, a messenger from Jairus’ house came saying, Thy daughter is dead; trouble not the Master (Luke 8:49). Imagine hearing that your daughter is dead; but Jesus said to Jairus, Fear not: believe only, and she shall be made whole (Luke 8:50). Who would you have believed in and trusted in—Jesus or the messenger?

Jesus was still willing to go to Jairus’ house because He knew Jairus’ daughter would be made whole. Did Jairus let his faith waver? I’m sure it would have been easy for him to give up and let discouragement come flooding in, but he believed in the delivering power of the Lord.

Jairus and Jesus continued on; and when they arrived at the house, the first thing Jesus did was get all the doubters out. Then He took the young girl by the hand and said, Maid, arise. And her spirit came again, and she arose straightway: and he commanded to give her meat (Luke 8:54,55). That little girl became alive because of her father’s faith; so when you are trying to help someone get a miracle, always remember that your faith matters.

Receive According to Your Faith

When Jesus left Jairus’ house, two blind men followed Him crying, Thou Son of David, have mercy on us (Matthew 9:27). Jesus asked them, Believe ye that I am able to do this? They said unto him, Yea, Lord. Then touched he their eyes, saying, According to your faith be it unto you. And their eyes were opened (Matthew 9:28-30).

For you to receive, it’s according to your faith. The Lord doesn’t want you to have fear and doubt; He wants you to believe so He can heal you of everything. Do you believe that the Lord can heal you of everything?

John tells of a great multitude of sick and afflicted people lying by the pool at Bethesda. For an angel went down at a certain season into the pool, and troubled the water: whosoever then first after the troubling of the water stepped in was made whole of whatsoever disease he had (John 5:4).

There was a man lying by that pool who had suffered with an infirmity for thirty-eight years. Each time the water was troubled by the angel, someone else would make it into the water before he could.

One day, Jesus came to that man and asked him if he wanted to be made whole. The man told Jesus that there was no one to help him; so when the angel troubled the water, someone would always make it into the water before he could.

Jesus didn’t want that man to be focused on looking for someone to help him; He wanted the man to be focused on Him. So Jesus said to the man, Rise, take up thy bed, and walk (John 5:8). Immediately, the man was made whole. Then he obeyed the words of Jesus and took up his bed, and walked (John 5:9). The Lord wants you to be made whole too, but He also wants you to obey His words.

Later, Jesus saw the man in the temple; and He told him, Behold, thou art made whole: sin no more, lest a worse thing come unto thee (John 5:14). The man had been made whole; he had been healed of everything. Jesus then made sure to tell the man not to sin ever again, and Jesus never would have told that man to do something that was not possible.

Put Your Faith into Action

Do you believe miracles are for today? The Bible says, Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to-day, and for ever (Hebrews 13:8). That means the same Jesus who performed miracles two thousand years ago is still performing them today, so why do people have such a hard time believing miracles are for today? Many people believe miracles could happen, but they just can’t seem to believe they actually will happen; and that makes it easy for doubt to get in.

You have to use your faith if you want to receive a miracle or a healing. If you have any doubt, let your faith in Jesus push that doubt out of your mind. If you need more faith, the Bible says, Faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God (Romans 10:17). You can increase your faith by reading the Word.

Don’t just sit around and wonder why you are not receiving your miracle; you have to do your part. Get into the Word and read about all the wonderful miracles that took place in the Bible. Study Hebrews 11, which is known as the faith chapter; and then let the Holy Spirit help you put your faith into action. Jesus said, If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you (John 15:7). When the Word abides in you, no case is too hard for the Lord. You just have to trust in Him completely.

Divine Determination

One day, Jesus was preaching at a house in Capernaum that was packed out with people. Four men carried their friend, who had palsy and couldn’t walk, to that house to receive a miracle. The Bible doesn’t tell us how far they had to travel or how much they had to sacrifice, but they wanted their friend to be made well; and they were willing to go the extra mile for him.

When the men arrived at the house, they couldn’t get in; and apparently, no one was willing to let them through the crowd. And, behold, men brought in a bed a man which was taken with a palsy: and they sought means to bring him in, and to lay him before him [Jesus] (Luke 5:18). What were those men going to do? How could they get their friend to Jesus? They could have just given up and gone home, but Jesus doesn’t want anyone to go home empty-handed.

Those men were determined for their friend to receive a miracle from Jesus. They were not going to let people or even four walls and a roof stop them from getting to Jesus. And when they could not find by what way they might bring him in because of the multitude, they went upon the housetop, and let him down through the tiling [the roof] with his couch into the midst before Jesus (Luke 5:19).

You must have that same kind of determination. If the devil puts up walls in front of you, go over them. If he puts a roof on top of those walls, go through the roof. You can never let anybody or anything prevent you from getting to Jesus.

Healing for the Body and Soul

There was that man lying on his bed right in front of Jesus. Whether you believe it or not, Jesus knows everything about you. He knows the condition of your body and your soul; so the first thing Jesus said to that sick man was, Man, thy sins are forgiven thee (Luke 5:20). The Lord first wants to deal with a person’s soul because He knows the soul determines where they will spend eternity, so don’t just ask for a physical miracle when you need both.

If you are in a bad spiritual condition, what good does it do you to get healed of your physical condition and then later die in an accident and go to hell? The Lord wants to heal you spiritually and physically. Heaven will never go bankrupt no matter how many needs you have, so there’s no limit on the number of miracles you can receive.

Going back to the story of the man with palsy…when Jesus said that the man’s sins were forgiven, the scribes and the Pharisees began to question among themselves saying, Who is this which speaketh blasphemies? Who can forgive sins, but God alone (Luke 5:21)?

Jesus knew the thoughts of those men; so He said to them, What reason ye in your hearts? Whether is easier, to say, Thy sins be forgiven thee; or to say, Rise up and walk? But that ye may know that the Son of man hath power upon earth to forgive sins, (he said unto the sick of the palsy,) I say unto thee, Arise, and take up thy couch, and go into thine house. And immediately he rose up before them, and took up that whereon he lay, and departed to his own house, glorifying God (Luke 5:22-25).

Jesus knew the scribes and Pharisees weren’t willing to accept Him into their hearts. They always seemed to be around Him, but they were there only to find fault and criticize. If you go to church to criticize and find fault with your brothers and sisters in Christ, then you are going for the wrong reasons. When you have Jesus in your heart, He will give you His love to share with others; but it’s up to you to share it.

<2>Miracles Change Lives

When you see someone receive salvation, a miracle or both, you should glorify God and tell others what you witnessed. Think of that man walking home right along with his friends. I’m sure they were all so excited that they were telling anyone they met about that miracle. That man’s life had been changed spiritually and physically because of his faith and the faith of his friends.

The Bible says of those men, Jesus saw their faith (Mark 2:5). Jesus knew that man needed salvation and a miracle, and He also knew how much faith that man had in his heart. The man had the faith to believe that Jesus was the Son of God, and he received salvation and his miracle according to his faith.

The people who were at that house the day that man was healed of palsy witnessed him receiving salvation and a miracle, and they called it a strange thing. Is seeing a miracle a strange thing to you? Is it hard for you to believe that miracles are for today? The Bible says, Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen (Hebrews 11:1). All you have to do is use your faith and believe that the Lord can heal you of everything.

A Centurion’s Great Faith

Luke tells the story of a Roman centurion who had a servant who was sick and close to death. That centurion had heard that Jesus could heal, and he had the faith to believe that Jesus could heal his servant; so he wanted Jesus to pray for his servant.

When Jesus was nearing the centurion’s house, the centurion sent friends to him, saying unto him, Lord, trouble not thyself: for I am not worthy that thou shouldest enter under my roof: Wherefore neither thought I myself worthy to come unto thee: but say in a word, and my servant shall be healed (Luke 7:6,7).

When Jesus heard the centurion’s message, He marveled and said, I say unto you, I have not found so great faith, no, not in Israel (Luke 7:9). Jesus didn’t physically have to be present to heal the servant, but the centurion’s great faith brought about a miracle. When the centurion’s friends returned to the house, they found the servant whole that had been sick (Luke 7:10).

When you have faith to believe, it doesn’t matter where you are. The Lord can heal you of everything wherever you are. Friend, the Lord wants to heal you soul, mind and body.

Jesus Delivered Legion

Mark tells us that when Jesus got out of a ship in Gadarenes, a man with an unclean spirit who was living in the tombs immediately came up to Him. Now, that man was living in a cemetery, so he obviously was not in his right mind. The people in that area tried to bind the man with chains, probably to keep him from hurting himself or from hurting them; but the Bible says, Because that he had been often bound with fetters and chains, and the chains had been plucked asunder by him, and the fetters broken in pieces: neither could any man tame him (Mark 5:4).

Day and night, that man would go into the mountains and into the tombs crying and cutting himself with sharp stones. The devil’s demons had him in great bondage, and it didn’t seem like anybody was willing to help him. The Bible says he was crying, so there must have been people who had heard him crying or had seen him crying. Where was their compassion? When you lose compassion for others, you’re in trouble.

The Lord knows when a soul is hurting and what it needs; and when the man saw Jesus from afar off, he ran and worshipped him (Mark 5:6). At that point, you would almost think the man was in his right mind; but then the demonic spirits cried though him, What have I to do with thee, Jesus, thou Son of the most high God? I adjure thee by God, that thou torment me not (Mark 5:7).

Jesus knew that man needed to be set free, and He cast those demonic spirits into a herd of about 2000 swine. As soon as those demons entered the swine, the herd ran violently down a steep place into the sea, (they were about two thousand;) and were choked in the sea (Mark 5:13).

Jesus Was Not Welcome

After that, the people of the city came out to see what was going on; and they saw Jesus and him that was possessed with the devil, and had the legion, sitting, and clothed, and in his right mind: and they were afraid (Mark 5:15). But the people were not happy about that, and they wanted Jesus to depart from their area. The owners of the swine must have had some type of influence on the people for them to turn against Jesus like that. Those people didn’t have any compassion for Jesus or that man.

The man, on the other hand, was so thankful for his deliverance that he wanted to go with Jesus; but Jesus said to him, Go home to thy friends, and tell them how great things the Lord hath done for thee, and hath had compassion on thee (Mark 5:19). It seems like Jesus wanted to make sure that man knew He loved him and that He had compassion on him.

Christ’s Divine Compassion

The Lord has compassion on each one of us. That’s why He came to this Earth and sacrificed Himself. Jesus had a hard life on Earth, but He made a big difference in people’s lives. When you have compassion for people, you can make a difference in people’s lives too.

Jesus was always ready to win a soul. Even when He was hanging on the Cross in great pain, He showed compassion to one of the thieves on the cross next to Him. And one of the malefactors which were hanged railed on him, saying, If thou be Christ, save thyself and us. But the other answering rebuked him, saying, Dost not thou fear God, seeing thou art in the same condemnation? And we indeed justly; for we receive the due reward of our deeds: but this man hath done nothing amiss. And he said unto Jesus, Lord, remember me when thou comest into thy kingdom. And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, To-day shalt thou be with me in paradise (Luke 23:39-43). Both of those thieves needed salvation, but only one of them was willing to receive Jesus. The other thief didn’t want Jesus, so he died in his sins; and he is in hell today.

As Jesus hung on that Cross, people mocked Him; but He didn’t say anything back. He just prayed, Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do (Luke 23:34). What great compassion that was!

Healing for the Soul and Body

None of us are promised tomorrow. The Bible says, Behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation (II Corinthians 6:2). The Lord wants to heal each one of you of everything, but it starts with salvation. Healing starts on the inside, my friend.

Pray with me now to ask Jesus Christ into your heart. Say, Oh, God, save my soul. Forgive me of my sins. I have come home to serve you for the rest of my life. I believe the blood of Jesus washes away all of my sins. Come into my heart, Jesus. Come on in, Jesus. Amen. Friend, if you meant that prayer, you have Jesus Christ in your heart.

Now, let the Lord move for you and heal you of everything. He wants to heal your soul; He wants to heal your mind, and He wants to heal your body. Whatever your need may be, let the Lord move for your situation.

The Bible says, And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up (James 5:15). Do you believe that? You may have more than one need or affliction at this time, but don’t ask God for just one thing when He wants to heal you of everything.

Friend, whatever your need may be, let the Lord move for you right now. Raise your hands, and let’s pull down Heaven together in a great and mighty way. Lord, Heavenly Father, you know what their need is. Break their bondage and set them free, in the blood name of Jesus Christ, I pray. I curse every sickness and every disease in their body. Heal them, in the holy, blood name of Jesus; and let everything come to normal. Amen.

Friend, look for every sign of improvement and always give God the praise, the honor and the glory for whatever He is doing in your life. Be that mighty witness and tell others about Jesus.
