If you want to be a blessing to the Kingdom and a soul winner for the Lord, you first have to take Jesus as your Savior. Then you have to tell others about Him. You have to be so full of Him that you can’t possibly keep it to yourself. Jesus must become your talk, your walk and the song in your heart. When He was on Earth, He said, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature (Mark 16:15).

The Early Church took Jesus to the people at all costs, and the Bible tells us that believers were the more added to the Lord, multitudes both of men and women (Acts 5:14). It is your responsibility to offer people Jesus today too.

Jesus was so real and amazing to the Early Church disciples. Many of them had seen Him in the flesh, and some had even touched Him and sat at His feet. Others had reached out and touched His garment for healing and many saw Him being crucified. Some of the disciples had not only seen Christ’s empty tomb but also the resurrected Christ Himself.

All of that has to become a reality to you before you can be a real soul winner. You have to really learn who Jesus is as Paul did. He said, That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death (Philippians 3:10).

How did Paul learn Jesus like that? After he was saved and before he began preaching, Paul explained, Immediately I conferred not with flesh and blood: Neither went I up to Jerusalem to them which were apostles before me; but I went into Arabia, and returned again unto Damascus. Then after three years I went up to Jerusalem to see Peter, and abode with him fifteen days (Galatians 1:16-18). It was just Paul and the Lord for three years, and Paul learned so much during that time through the power of the Holy Ghost.

Let the Spirit Work Within

You can’t get to know the Lord unless you are taught by someone who knows all about Him, and that person is the Holy Ghost. But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you. (John 14:26).

The Early Church disciples gave themselves over to the Holy Ghost, and that’s what you have to do. It isn’t enough just to receive the Holy Ghost and let Him speak through you; you have to yield to Him and let Him work through you and make you a witness for the Lord. But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth (Acts 1:8).

The Holy Ghost is a worker, and He wants you to be a worker too. The Spirit comes in to live in and work through you, and He doesn’t like to dwell in lazy temples. What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? (I Corinthians 6:19). If you are lazy and indifferent when it comes to the things of God, it will quench the Holy Ghost and hurt His spirit.

The Lord Says You Can

When the Spirit moves on you to tell a certain person about the Lord, do you say, “It won’t do any good. I can’t win anybody for the Lord”? The Bible says, If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him (James 1:5).

The Spirit may move on you to write a letter or send an email message to a lost soul; but you say, “I can’t write or spell very well.” Surely you can spell the name “Jesus” and the word “love”; so you can write, “Jesus loves you.” That says it all, and it opens the door for the Holy Spirit to begin moving on that person.

You have to decide to get rid of “I can’t” and say, I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me (Philippians 4:13). You must yield entirely to the Holy Spirit and say, “Lord, use me.” You don’t choose what you will and won’t do for the Lord; you let Him choose for you. Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths (Proverbs 3:5,6).

Don’t Talk Too Much

God knows which souls are ready to hear the Word, and He knows what you should say to them. Talking too much is not good in soul winning; you have to be very careful with your words. Study to be quiet (I Thessalonians 4:11). If you talk too much when you’re dealing with a soul, you may talk conviction on a person and then talk it right back off of them.

You must deliver the message the Holy Spirit gives you and nothing more. You must know when the Spirit wants you to stop talking. The Lord told Moses, I will be with thy mouth, and teach thee what thou shalt say (Exodus 4:12). And He is saying the same thing to you.

You can’t deal with every person the same because everyone is different. You have to become conscious of the presence of the Holy Spirit and let Him deal with people. He won’t work through you in the same way every time, so you have to learn when He is moving on you to speak and when He’s not.

Living by your own human spirit will not get God’s work done. You may say, “I felt led to do this or say that”; but feelings come from self and not from God. You can’t just “feel” led; you have to “be” led through the Word of God and the power of the Holy Ghost.

Yield to the Holy Spirit

You may ask, “How will I know when the Spirit is directing me?” You will know because He has a gentle spirit that is very different from your spirit. And thine ears shall hear a word behind thee, saying, This is the way, walk ye in it, when ye turn to the right hand, and when ye turn to the left (Isaiah 30:21).

If the Holy Spirit lives within you, then you have experienced the initial evidence of Him speaking through you in another tongue. If you recognized Him enough to let Him come in and take over your tongue, then you can recognize His gentle nudge if you want to. The more you yield to the Holy Spirit, the more you will recognize when His presence moves in to give you direction. When you yield to His way, the work God has for you will be done in a marvelous way.

You may have tried for years to bring a particular soul into the Kingdom; and when you finally yielded to the ways of the Holy Spirit, you realized how simple it really was. It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you they are spirit, and they are life (John 6:63).

Know the Spirit

You have to study the Holy Spirit and learn who He is. If you have been baptized in the Spirit, you already know how to give over to Him when He wants to speak through you; so you can also learn when He wants you to do or say something.

The Holy Spirit has not come to live within you and be a stranger to you. You may think He is only around when He speaks through you, but that is not true. He wants you to know He is there every minute of the day to help you with whatever you need.

The Holy Spirit’s main purpose for coming to Earth is to do the perfect, divine work of the Lord through children of God. Jesus said, I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work (John 9:4). Your heart’s cry must be the same.

You must seek to take advantage of every opportunity to reach out to lost souls and bring them to the Lord. The Holy Spirit’s message for them is, Jesus is the Savior. Jesus is the baptizer. Jesus is the soon-coming King of Kings and Lord of Lords. Oh, what a marvelous message you have to share.

Know the Word

For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God (I Corinthians 1:18). So many people today don’t know the Word of God, and they don’t even know that some of the things they are doing are sinful. Without the Word, people have no gauge for what is right and what is wrong; so the devil leads them straight to hell without much trouble.

The devil has to work harder and spend more time on those who have knowledge of the Word, and that’s why he aggravates children of God so much. He doesn’t have to spend any time on those who are deceived because they are already marching right on to hell. He is just waiting for them to stop breathing so he can push them in. We have to get to those souls before it’s too late.

The Early Church disciples were full of God’s Word, and they that were scattered abroad went every where preaching the word (Acts 8:4). Were they gossiping, telling false stories about one other and running down their neighbors? No. They went everywhere telling the good news about Jesus.

Be in One Mind and One Accord

The Early Church disciples were able to do so much for the Lord because they were in one mind and one accord in the Spirit. And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place (Acts 2:1). Those who are in the body of Christ today need to be in one mind and one accord too.

Study the works God did through those disciples and the multitudes of people they were able to win. Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls (Acts 2:41). Howbeit many of them which heard the word believed; and the number of the men was about five thousand (Acts 4:4).

God’s children must have that one-mindedness all the time. Even before you go to church, you must learn to cleanse your mind so the Spirit of the Lord can work with your mind. I wonder how many people sit in church thinking about washing dishes, making beds, sweeping the floor and trying to pay debts instead of listening to a man of God preach?

Remember that God always knows what you’re thinking. He said, For I know their works and their thoughts (Isaiah 66:18). The anointing of God will help you stay focused on the Lord if you allow it to. And the yoke shall be destroyed because of the anointing (Isaiah 10:27). You must carry that anointing with you all the time and keep your mind on the Lord. Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee (Isaiah 26:3).

Have a Clear Mind

When you’re saved, your soul is covered with the divine blood; so the devil can’t get into it unless you willfully sin against God. Your mind, however, is not covered with the blood, and the devil knows that. He will aggravate you, worry you and make you afraid whenever he can; so you must yield to the Holy Spirit and allow Him to flush out of your mind anything that is not of God.

You will never be a good soul winner or worker for the Lord unless you get the clutter out and put the things of God in. One way to do that is by speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord (Ephesians 5:19). God wants to use you and all of His children in any way He can in this last hour before Jesus comes, but it is up to you to let Him do that.

If you are not saved today, God cannot use you to help others; and He can’t help you either. You must decide that Jesus is the one you need and give your heart to Him today. You can begin a new life in the Lord by saying the sinner’s prayer located on page 6 of this magazine. Then you will never be the same. God bless you today.
