The First Epistle of Peter was written by the apostle Peter from Rome between A.D. 64 and 67 to Christians who had fled Asia Minor. It admonishes the pilgrims to have hope and courage and to trust in the power of God.

2:6 Wherefore also it is contained in the scripture, Behold, I lay in Sion a chief corner stone, elect, precious: and he that believeth on him shall not be confounded.
