Ernest Winston Angley

August 9, 1921 — May 7, 2021

Our beloved pastor and evangelist, Reverend Ernest Angley, went home to be with his Lord on May 7, 2021.

Ernest Winston Angley was born on August 9, 1921, in Mooresville, North Carolina to the late Julius and Fannie Angley.

At the young age of 18, Rev. Angley gave his heart to the Lord and began his lifetime of service to win the lost at any cost.  He preached the Gospel in its fullness; and the Lord blessed the people with salvation, miracles and healings.

While attending college, Rev. Angley started dating his future wife, Esther Sikes; and together, they came to Akron, Ohio and established Grace Cathedral and later, Ernest Angley Ministries.

Rev. Angley was preceded in death by his beloved wife Esther (Angel), brothers and sisters, Judson, Clyde, Lillian (Tay), Leitha (Pete), Cleo and Bea. He is survived by his dear sister-in-law, Aline, much-loved niece, Gail, and many other family, friends, members of Grace Cathedral and ministry partners.

Reverend Angley will be greatly missed. He was not only a pastor, evangelist and author; he was also a true friend and a spiritual leader who cared deeply for his staff, congregation and ministry partners. They all loved him very much.

Rev. Angley’s legacy comes from his own words — “If I die before the Rapture takes place, I’d want these words to be said about me: He pleased God.”

Rev. Angley’s favorite scripture passage was, Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. (Proverbs 3:5,6)

Notes of remembrance can be posted at ErnestAngley.org.

Visitation will be held from 10 am until 5 pm on Saturday, May 22 at Grace Cathedral, 2700 State Rd., Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio. A Funeral Celebration will be held on Sunday, May 23 at 12 pm at Grace Cathedral in Cuyahoga Falls. Rev. Chris Machamer and Rev. Steve Millar officiating. The Funeral Celebration will be live streamed on the Ernest Angley Ministries’ Facebook page and YouTube channel. Private interment will take place at a later date.

If I were to die before the Rapture, that is what I would want to be said about me—that I pleased God.

-Ernest Angley

Put the work of God above your very life; be willing to die for His name’s sake. I have told the Lord many times that if I can bring more people into the Kingdom by my death than by my life, so be it. In whatever way the Lord wants to use me, I want to be used. I don’t want to live a moment longer if I can’t win souls.

-Ernest Angley

No matter what comes their way, they know they must finish their work for the Lord. And then however they die, however the Lord can get the most glory out of their lives, they are willing. I know I am willing for the Lord to take me or use me however He wants to win souls for His work and for His divine purpose to be done.

-Ernest Angley

The Bible tells us in Acts 14:22 that Paul and Barnabas advised people to continue in the faith. They wouldn’t always be there to talk to them personally to bring them out of feelings. I say that to you today: Even if I’m not with you, you must continue in faith, not your feelings.

-Ernest Angley

If the Rapture doesn’t happen first, the Lord in a wonderful, gentle manner will light the path to Heaven all the way. Not even a shadow will darken the valley.

-Ernest Angley

I have told the Lord many times that if I can bring more people into the Kingdom by my death than by my life, so be it. In whatever way the Lord wants to use me, I want to be used. I don’t want to live a moment longer if I can’t win souls. I live to help people, to bless them.

-Ernest Angley

I have a standing order with the Lord: “Dear Jesus, anything that I ask you must be done according to your divine will or I don’t want it, no matter what I say. I just want prayers answered that are according to your divine will. Oh, please God, look at all my tomorrows and work accordingly.”

-Ernest Angley

I live to do God’s will. If He sees fit for me to make the Rapture, good; but if He sees fit to take me home before, that’s all right, too. If He wants to sacrifice my life to bring in more souls to His Kingdom, so be it. Whatever He wants, I want. Jesus died for me, and I’m willing to live or die for Him.

-Ernest Angley

My Journey is a short one; and although I know I may go home by way of the grave, I believe that I will meet Christ in the air in the Rapture.

-Ernest Angley

I have committed everything to the Lord; I have nothing left to give. Whether I live or die, all of my strength and every part of me belongs entirely to Him to use in any way that He desires. I can say with the Apostle Paul, For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand (II Timothy 4:6).

-Ernest Angley

  • I am writing a book of my life with God. I am 77 and still going hard after the Lord.  I have entries in the journal of how Ernest Angley affected my life when I got the Baptism of the Holy Spirit as a Baptist in 1975 and did not know how to move forward with it, as God was calling me to TV and to a healing ministry.  I would watch Bro. Angley every Sunday on TV and cry and cry when people, especially children, got their healing from deafness. but I was always so encouraged by his preaching too.  As the years went on, I began to go around the world ministering to people, especially in the area of inner healing and deliverance because it had helped me so much deal with past issues in my life growing up.  My TV show is on seven streaming networks as well as some of the shows are on YouTube.  Bro. Angley was such a big influence on my life and yet he never knew me.  Thousands are like me, I know.
For some reason, as I was working on my book today I suddenly thought, “I think I will look him up and see if he is still alive.’’ And that is how I found out he died a few days ago at almost 100.  That is my prayer. To preach till I am 100, so only 23 more years!  So incredible that God led me to look for him today.  I will watch the services Sunday.  Oh what rejoicing there must have been in heaven when he arrived.  I bet the angels and the people were jumping and shouting.  I bet Jesus raced to meet him (or maybe the other way around!)  Glory to God for a man like this to have lived the life he lived.

  • I was extremely affected when I learnt that Reverend Ernest Angley has pass on. At the same time happy that he is in paradise in the company of God’s saints   and departed warriors of faith like Abraham, Moses, Joseph, Job, David, Joshua, Hezekiah, Paul, John the Revelator,  Isaac, Jacob, Noah, Elijah & Elisha , Enoch who walked with God for 300 years among many faithful souls who graced the earth.

Make no mistake, Reverend Angley has been the greatest man of faith who completely dedicated his life to God in the last 100 years . His work for the Lord in this Jesus ministry speaks for itself and it stood the tests of tribulations and fiery trials.
I have known Ernest for over 20 years . He is the reason why I am not in hell today. I have followed him in some of his outreach missions : In the year 2000 in Harare Zimbabwe, 2007 in Capetown South Africa and when I visited The Grace Cathedral in Akron O’ hio 2012.There was a time in my younger years when I cried out to God to lead me and help me find a man of God, a true man of faith in the footsteps of the great prophets , the likes of Elijah. I had not so much as heard of the name Ernest Angely until someone gave me one of Reverend Angley ‘s book , ” Untying God,s hands”. I have been blessed in many ways from the moment I started reading that book in 1998.
    I cannot thank God enough.
Reverend Angley will be greatly missed, but the great I-A-M will see to it that the work Reverend Angley started will continue till rapture takes place.

Thank you God , and we thank Jesus & the Holy Ghost for giving Ernest Angley to this world to save lost souls like me.

Meet you dear Reverend at the second coming of Christ in midair.

We love you and will miss you!  Our prayers have been answered…God has renewed your youth!

  • I will be missing you for your love and care for me over a decade. Anytime I was afraid of my late father’s idols, you always encourage me to pray and cover my soul in the blood of Jesus and never be afraid of them because they have no power over the born-again child of God. You sent me several books, magazines, and blest cloth to be firmly rooted in the word of God.
Your prayer support for my life over the decade has been so enormous. I am now firmly rooted in the word of God and my trust and faith in him has increased tremendously. God is sovereign over our lives and determines when and how he wants to take us home. It is so refreshing to know that you have run the race and have finished well.
Daddy may you find rest in the bosom of our heavenly father till we meet again rest in perfect peace.

  • There are no words to express the deep loss we feel at Rev. Angley’s passing.  I don’t think we expected to lose him ever.  But God’s way is perfect and He chose to take Rev. so we must be okay with God’s plan.  Rev. Angley has meant so much to me and my family over the years.  We have received many miracles, healings, and blessings from the Lord through his ministry.  We recognized him as a Prophet of God long before he did - and a true prophet he was.  We love you Rev. Angley and look forward to the day we can meet again when the Lord calls us home - whether in death or the Rapture - we are ready.

  • It’s hard to say in words what I feel in my heart.  I am so greatful, because of Rev. Angley’s obedience to God, I found the Lord, found the truth, and was set free from much fear and depression.  It’s because of Rev. Angley, my Dad (who I thought was an impossible case) got saved, and was delivered from alcohol, and he is now in heaven. It’s because of Rev. Angley that my family learned miracles still happen today, and we’ve received several over the years. There are no words to thank him enough, for his dedication and faithfulness to the Lord.  We must be strong and continue on in this work Reverend started.

  • I grew up five houses from Ernest Angley’s Grace Cathedral on State Rd in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio. As a teenager I would wander into the headquarters and watch
“The Ninety & Nine Club” being filmed.
Sometimes I would be by myself. No one seemed to bother me, it had a profound impact.
During that time and the following years I fell deep into drugs and alcohol. I became a drug dealer, my life was surely on the path to prison. By the age of 19 as my life was in shambles, I was introduced to Rev. Angley’s ministry and the truth about Christ Jesus and his redeeming divine blood.
I went to a Friday night service in May of 1990. After Rev. Angley laid hands on me I was completely delivered from drugs, alcohol, foul language and the like. I was astounded and completely set free. Four years later Rev. Angley asked me to travel with him as his cameraman and gave me the opportunity of a lifetime. We went from country to country to win countless numbers of souls, it was beyond a dream come true. He was a true man of God and never stopped at “Winning the Lost at Any Cost!” He was more than a preacher to me he was like a father. He was an absolute joy to work for God with. It’s been 31 years living completely free from all the drugs and alcohol and I continually thank God for the sacrifices Rev. Angley made to stand in the gap for lost souls like myself and so many others. He fought an amazing fight and let me tell you it was an honor to stand on that stage with him and fight with him. The Power of the Holy Ghost gave us the stamina to win those battles for those souls. What an amazing man of God.
    He will be surely missed.
    God Bless

  • Dear Rev Angley, I can not fully express how much your life impacted mine and my family and kin. The truth that you preached went into me and opened my eyes . I learned how to love because of your ministry and Jesus reached down and removed scars from my life. You were my spiritual father for many years and I will be eternally grateful for being born again and receiving the holy ghost. I received many healings as well.  I love and miss you my precious brother in the lord. We will see each other again but until then souls must be won for my precious lord. God bless our dear pastors who are working for our lord in the harvest field.  Sincerely joy becker

  • I had read Rev Ernest Angley’s book titled ‘Raptured’ and found it really inspiring. Then in 1983, I gave a copy to my younger sister who started to read it. She did not put it down until she finished it . At the time we shared a room so she came to my bed to wake me to ensure I had not been raptured! When I got up, she informed me that she wanted to receive our Lord Jesus Christ as her Lord and personal Saviour, because she didnot want to miss the rapture! So I prayed with her to receive Christ, and afterwards, there was such a powerful presence of God that she also received the Holy Ghost baptism with the manifestaion of speaking in tonges as evidence!  Really Rev Angley’s book ‘Raptured’ was instrumental to my sister deciding to give her life to our Lord Jesus, and she continues in the faith of Chris until today. Praise the Lord Alleluia Amen. To God be all the glory! ‘Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord from henceforth: Yea, saith the Spirit, that they may rest from their labours; and their works do follow them. Revelation 14: 13

  • Rev Angley

Thank you so much for everything you did. You impacted the lives of so many people in great ways. I know me personally, had it not been for truth and the blood gospel I would be a miserable mess till this day. I thank God for you, and praise him that you are finally home at last.
You’re in the arms of Jesus himself, gathered around with all the saints and prophets of old to never again have another mind battle, pain, sorrow, or worry. You are so very special and you will always and forever hold a special place in the hearts of many people all over the World. I have a new hope to look forward to, and that’s seeing you again, some day with our Lord Jesus Christ.

  • Dear Prayer Team.
I am thankful for Rev Angley s life. I am glad for the short time I knew him through service and by email around two years. But he had such a profound affect on my life.  He was such a powerhouse for God’s Kingdom, so full of love for all peoples, the sinner and the lost, the broken hearted. He loved them all.  And of course his love for the old rugged cross and our dear Lord Jesus.  I will remember him with love.

  • We met Reverend Angley for the first time in 1999 when he came to Zimbabwe for his Ministry church Crusade. Since then our lives have never been the same.

For us the Bible was a closed book, we were blind to Bible truths, which caused us to suffer much at the hands of false preachers and prophets. Reverend Angley was used by God to deliver us from false gospel and all the teachings of the occult and witchcraft as the light of God shined upon our souls through the man of God‘s true Bible teachings.

Reverend Angley was the first and only preacher to teach us about Bible Holiness and that we should live free from sin, and the need for every child of God to receive the power of the Holy Ghost and that all our victories in Christ Jesus come through the Blood of Jesus spilled at Calvary’s cross. We remember Reverend Angley mostly as the greatest gospel preacher of our time, in the order of Elijah, Moses, and Apostle Paul, through whose preachings we can testify,  God the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost, are become reality in our lives.

In faith, we believe that Reverend Angley, our father in Christ Jesus, has gone home and that we will meet again with him in Heaven, our greatest “Thank you” for the man of God‘s great sacrifices is our continued stay in the faith and service of the gospel truth.

  • Your reward is a great one, Reverend Angley. You played a vital role in my youth to introduce the Word of God to my life by planting seeds in my heart and mind as I watched you on TV. And although I did not commit to the Lord until my 30’s, it was indeed your efforts that played a vital part in my Salvation. Afterwards, I began to study your books and teachings online and on TV to learn the way of the Spirit to overcome the way of the flesh. Such teachings are really hard to find nowadays, but thank God He gave us you, Reverend Angley! Thank you for your obedience to the Lord. We will see you again one day.
