Ernest Winston Angley

August 9, 1921 — May 7, 2021

Our beloved pastor and evangelist, Reverend Ernest Angley, went home to be with his Lord on May 7, 2021.

Ernest Winston Angley was born on August 9, 1921, in Mooresville, North Carolina to the late Julius and Fannie Angley.

At the young age of 18, Rev. Angley gave his heart to the Lord and began his lifetime of service to win the lost at any cost.  He preached the Gospel in its fullness; and the Lord blessed the people with salvation, miracles and healings.

While attending college, Rev. Angley started dating his future wife, Esther Sikes; and together, they came to Akron, Ohio and established Grace Cathedral and later, Ernest Angley Ministries.

Rev. Angley was preceded in death by his beloved wife Esther (Angel), brothers and sisters, Judson, Clyde, Lillian (Tay), Leitha (Pete), Cleo and Bea. He is survived by his dear sister-in-law, Aline, much-loved niece, Gail, and many other family, friends, members of Grace Cathedral and ministry partners.

Reverend Angley will be greatly missed. He was not only a pastor, evangelist and author; he was also a true friend and a spiritual leader who cared deeply for his staff, congregation and ministry partners. They all loved him very much.

Rev. Angley’s legacy comes from his own words — “If I die before the Rapture takes place, I’d want these words to be said about me: He pleased God.”

Rev. Angley’s favorite scripture passage was, Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. (Proverbs 3:5,6)

Notes of remembrance can be posted at ErnestAngley.org.

Visitation will be held from 10 am until 5 pm on Saturday, May 22 at Grace Cathedral, 2700 State Rd., Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio. A Funeral Celebration will be held on Sunday, May 23 at 12 pm at Grace Cathedral in Cuyahoga Falls. Rev. Chris Machamer and Rev. Steve Millar officiating. The Funeral Celebration will be live streamed on the Ernest Angley Ministries’ Facebook page and YouTube channel. Private interment will take place at a later date.

If I were to die before the Rapture, that is what I would want to be said about me—that I pleased God.

-Ernest Angley

Put the work of God above your very life; be willing to die for His name’s sake. I have told the Lord many times that if I can bring more people into the Kingdom by my death than by my life, so be it. In whatever way the Lord wants to use me, I want to be used. I don’t want to live a moment longer if I can’t win souls.

-Ernest Angley

No matter what comes their way, they know they must finish their work for the Lord. And then however they die, however the Lord can get the most glory out of their lives, they are willing. I know I am willing for the Lord to take me or use me however He wants to win souls for His work and for His divine purpose to be done.

-Ernest Angley

The Bible tells us in Acts 14:22 that Paul and Barnabas advised people to continue in the faith. They wouldn’t always be there to talk to them personally to bring them out of feelings. I say that to you today: Even if I’m not with you, you must continue in faith, not your feelings.

-Ernest Angley

If the Rapture doesn’t happen first, the Lord in a wonderful, gentle manner will light the path to Heaven all the way. Not even a shadow will darken the valley.

-Ernest Angley

I have told the Lord many times that if I can bring more people into the Kingdom by my death than by my life, so be it. In whatever way the Lord wants to use me, I want to be used. I don’t want to live a moment longer if I can’t win souls. I live to help people, to bless them.

-Ernest Angley

I have a standing order with the Lord: “Dear Jesus, anything that I ask you must be done according to your divine will or I don’t want it, no matter what I say. I just want prayers answered that are according to your divine will. Oh, please God, look at all my tomorrows and work accordingly.”

-Ernest Angley

I live to do God’s will. If He sees fit for me to make the Rapture, good; but if He sees fit to take me home before, that’s all right, too. If He wants to sacrifice my life to bring in more souls to His Kingdom, so be it. Whatever He wants, I want. Jesus died for me, and I’m willing to live or die for Him.

-Ernest Angley

My Journey is a short one; and although I know I may go home by way of the grave, I believe that I will meet Christ in the air in the Rapture.

-Ernest Angley

I have committed everything to the Lord; I have nothing left to give. Whether I live or die, all of my strength and every part of me belongs entirely to Him to use in any way that He desires. I can say with the Apostle Paul, For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand (II Timothy 4:6).

-Ernest Angley

  • We will miss him. He served God in his life, reached the lost, and empowered and equipped God’s servants.  We honor him. We’ll miss him. I remember how he encouraged me in Rwanda in 2003-2004. At this time I distributed “The Power of the Holy Ghost Magazine” and some of his books in schools, different churches, and different Christian institutions.
Now Couple years ago, we set a plan to meet in Akron, but I could not make it to be there. Now he goes before I see him! My pastor, I will meet you in Paradise!
We know we all have Ambassador there. Yes, he is.

  • I first learned of Reverend Angley after I moved into the Akron area in 1977 from another state.  I saw him on TV and that was the first I had seen him or even heard about him.  Back then he would start The Ernest Angley Hour by saying “No one’s ever loved you like Jesus loves you.  No one’s ever cared the way he cares.”  That got inside me and I became interested.  He was the only minister on TV that I had seen that preached the true word of God with the power of the Holy Ghost.  Eventually, through watching the telecast, I would be saved and baptized in the Holy Ghost and delivered from alcohol and drug use.  The first service I attended on a Friday night, he pointed me out for a sinus condition that caused me to have to use nasal spray every hour for my sinuses to stay open.  He prayed for me and my sinuses stayed open and I threw my nasal spray away.  I quickly learned that Reverend Angley’s ministry and Grace Cathedral were not like other ministries or churches.  Reverend Angley was called by God to be a witness to the world of the second coming of Jesus.  He was called to let people know that they must be saved, baptized in the Holy Ghost, and live free from sin, in order to be ready for the rapture. Thank you Reverend Angley for your love and prayers.  Thank you for your sacrifice and holy dedication in preaching the gospel to the world.  My deepest condolences to Reverend Angley’s family.

  • God’s will is perfect.  The world has lost a great prophet of God.  I am truly blessed and honored for my life to have been touched by dear Rev. Angley.  He had great compassion for souls and amazing energy to take the gospel to the world.  There was not a single ounce of prejudice in his spirit as he was God’s instrument to reach out to all people with the delivering power of the divine blood gospel of Jesus Christ.  Praise God he’s home free reuniting with his loved ones, including his dear wife Angel.  He will forever brightly shine in Heaven as an heir of God and joint-heir with Jesus.  Hallelujah!

  • This is a man i can truly call my spiritual father, the Lord used him to alter the course of my life and my family’s from the day i encountered him on a local television channel in 2001 up until now. Reverend Ernest Angley was and is still a special man of God, all his books and for me particularly the Reality of the Blood Vol 1 taught me so much about God, how to relate with Him, the Blood of Jesus and many other subjects and i wouldn’t be where i am today where it not for him. I’ve always found his letters, books, magazines and sermons uplifting anytime i indulge in them. Indeed I’m one of the many stars he touched, stars he saw in a vision as an 8 year old. I eventually attended a number of his crusades beginning with the Soshanguve Crusade in South Africa, the Manzini Swaziland crusade, Delft Capetown South Africa and The Soweto South Africa crusade.
To cap it all off I’m forever grateful to the Lord for having given us this Holy Ghost preacher because after much struggle i eventually received the baptism of the Holy Ghost with the evidence of speaking in other tongues during his last crusade in Rwanda. Partners who were there will remember that i initially got a stammering tongue during the pastors conference but eventually got the real thing with their help during one of the crusade days.

To the flock at Grace Cathedral, its is painful that he’s departed yes, but lets celebrate his legacy and his sacrifice. Lets be grateful to God that he allowed him to remain with us all this years. I and others from Zimbabwe mourn with you and pray for the comfort and guidance of the blessed Holy Ghost.

  • It was my honor and privilege to have known God’s true Prophet. Every thing that he taught us you could take to the Bible. He was not just our pastor and evangelist he was family and our friend. He was so willing to take time for each and everyone. I remember as I was 4 years old and my mother was getting prayer at the church on Canton Rd. When my mother went down under the power of the Lord. Rev. Angley offered me his Red Carnation. I didn’t want to take it. And Fred one of his ushers picked me up and held me. When I seen my mother was alright I decided to take the Red Carnation from Rev Angley. After that he became my Pastor , Evangelist, and a really good friend. We will miss him dearly . But we know that we will see him again soon in Heaven where we all long to be.

  • I’m so thankful for all the prayers that Reverend Angley prayed and all the fastings he did. Reverend Angley would preach the truth with such joy and excitement. His life was a great example, he was so humble and caring. Truly he was a shining light for the Lord Jesus. I’m happy he’s in Heaven with his wife Angel and his mom and family after serving the Lord for these many years. It’s sad when a loved one goes, but I know he’s happy in Heaven now, I miss him and love him

  • The Reverend IS finally resting in Peace and back with His Lord and the part of the FAMILY of God that He longed to be with again (e.g. Angel). I believe this was an answer to prayer and the timing was perfect. His long, hard, earth trek is finally over. Multitudes of souls were touched by this gifted man of God and that will never be denied My favorite Reverend for over forty five years. I can only smile remembering my times with Him and how He touched God with and for me (especially on our Israel Trip). He was seemingly part of the last of a special generation of ministers ... now, the end times that He preached about are upon us. To know Rev. Angley after the Spirit was to see beyond His earthen vessel wrapped in frail humanity and to see One who “Pleased God” enough to pant after HIM as few others did, so powerfully, in the Spirit. Now, Our Brother rejoices and is at perfect rest, basking in the presence of the Lord, without measure, effort, or earth’s circumstantial static ... He is as one refreshed beyond youth, blessed as One without hindrance in unbridled Communion, and in The Lord’s fellowship as one gratifyingly lost in the very heart of God, Himself. The dinner bell rang for the Rev. and now he dines at the King’s table with all of His saved loved ones that proceeded Him. How can we not rejoice? Hallelujah !!! We Praise God for you and call you BLESSED ! ✝️❤️

  • I still miss Rev Ernest Angley. Personally I am so grateful to God for the life and ministry of this true prophet of God. Without his prayers I wouldn’t be here. I Thank God that he answered the call to preach the Gospel. He taught the fullness of God’s Word and the truth about salvation, healing and the baptism in the Holy Ghost. We still mourn his passing but I know with absolute certainty that he heard those words, ‘well done good and faithful servant.’ He pleased God in all things. Yet now he is face to face with Jesus Christ, his saviour and his beloved wife Angel. It is the meeting he has been looking forward to for the whole of his life. “In heaven Rev Angley now can look back on his life and be absolutely assured that he has impacted millions of lives for eternity. Thank you Rev Angley. We love and miss you.

  • Mike and I will be forever grateful for Reverend Angley, for his dedication and faithfulness to God, his love for his children in the Lord, his love for lost souls all over the world, and his commitment and belief in teaching the Bible truth consistently down through the years,  I, personally, will be forever grateful for his compassion, his patience, his never-ending prayers for physical healings and miracles for my family and myself,  for his guidance in my darkest valleys and again, for giving me the truth no matter the circumstances surrounding me. Without his prayers, I would not be here today, nor would Mike. Reverend prayed for Mike when he was a little child and he received a miracle for his kidney.  Without that miracle, Mike would not have survived and he has been healthy for over 50 years. And for that long, it has been a privilege and a great blessing to us to be a part of this Ministry that God led Reverend and his precious wife Angel to start up so many years ago.  We know that Reverend Angley would want us to help keep bringing in the lost and so for Mike and I,  it will continue to be a privilege and a blessing to hold up the hands of our two wonderful Ministers he has left behind to finish the work he started.  Our hearts will always hold a special place for Reverend Angley and we will miss him on this earth, but our hearts also rejoice, knowing he has entered the gates of Heaven to be with our Lord and Saviour and has been reunited with Angel!  Thank you Reverend Angley for all you have done for us, we will forever love you! • I love you, Reverend Angley!  I grew up a poor girl in the Atlanta, GA area.  When I was in my teens, a dear lady told us about your television program.  I was raised a Baptist, but when I saw you, saw the miracles, my mom and I were so happy.  We started attending the Atlanta, GA crusade services and later climbed on the bus from Atlanta with Bonnie McGarrity.  I have a lifetime of happy memories attending Grace Cathedral every 4th of July with my mom and later my son and husband.  This ministry means everything to me!  We all found God through this wonderful ministry; received many miracles for ourselves.  Now that you have been in heaven for 2 weeks, you will have the delight of showing us all around when we get there!  We look forward to that great day!  Well done, thou good and faithful servant of the Lord!  Many rewards will be yours!
