Ernest Winston Angley

August 9, 1921 — May 7, 2021

Our beloved pastor and evangelist, Reverend Ernest Angley, went home to be with his Lord on May 7, 2021.

Ernest Winston Angley was born on August 9, 1921, in Mooresville, North Carolina to the late Julius and Fannie Angley.

At the young age of 18, Rev. Angley gave his heart to the Lord and began his lifetime of service to win the lost at any cost.  He preached the Gospel in its fullness; and the Lord blessed the people with salvation, miracles and healings.

While attending college, Rev. Angley started dating his future wife, Esther Sikes; and together, they came to Akron, Ohio and established Grace Cathedral and later, Ernest Angley Ministries.

Rev. Angley was preceded in death by his beloved wife Esther (Angel), brothers and sisters, Judson, Clyde, Lillian (Tay), Leitha (Pete), Cleo and Bea. He is survived by his dear sister-in-law, Aline, much-loved niece, Gail, and many other family, friends, members of Grace Cathedral and ministry partners.

Reverend Angley will be greatly missed. He was not only a pastor, evangelist and author; he was also a true friend and a spiritual leader who cared deeply for his staff, congregation and ministry partners. They all loved him very much.

Rev. Angley’s legacy comes from his own words — “If I die before the Rapture takes place, I’d want these words to be said about me: He pleased God.”

Rev. Angley’s favorite scripture passage was, Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. (Proverbs 3:5,6)

Notes of remembrance can be posted at ErnestAngley.org.

Visitation will be held from 10 am until 5 pm on Saturday, May 22 at Grace Cathedral, 2700 State Rd., Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio. A Funeral Celebration will be held on Sunday, May 23 at 12 pm at Grace Cathedral in Cuyahoga Falls. Rev. Chris Machamer and Rev. Steve Millar officiating. If I were to die before the Rapture, that is what I would want to be said about me—that I pleased God.

-Ernest Angley

Put the work of God above your very life; be willing to die for His name’s sake. I have told the Lord many times that if I can bring more people into the Kingdom by my death than by my life, so be it. In whatever way the Lord wants to use me, I want to be used. I don’t want to live a moment longer if I can’t win souls.

-Ernest Angley

No matter what comes their way, they know they must finish their work for the Lord. And then however they die, however the Lord can get the most glory out of their lives, they are willing. I know I am willing for the Lord to take me or use me however He wants to win souls for His work and for His divine purpose to be done.

-Ernest Angley

The Bible tells us in Acts 14:22 that Paul and Barnabas advised people to continue in the faith. They wouldn’t always be there to talk to them personally to bring them out of feelings. I say that to you today: Even if I’m not with you, you must continue in faith, not your feelings.

-Ernest Angley

If the Rapture doesn’t happen first, the Lord in a wonderful, gentle manner will light the path to Heaven all the way. Not even a shadow will darken the valley.

-Ernest Angley

I have told the Lord many times that if I can bring more people into the Kingdom by my death than by my life, so be it. In whatever way the Lord wants to use me, I want to be used. I don’t want to live a moment longer if I can’t win souls. I live to help people, to bless them.

-Ernest Angley

I have a standing order with the Lord: “Dear Jesus, anything that I ask you must be done according to your divine will or I don’t want it, no matter what I say. I just want prayers answered that are according to your divine will. Oh, please God, look at all my tomorrows and work accordingly.”

-Ernest Angley

I live to do God’s will. If He sees fit for me to make the Rapture, good; but if He sees fit to take me home before, that’s all right, too. If He wants to sacrifice my life to bring in more souls to His Kingdom, so be it. Whatever He wants, I want. Jesus died for me, and I’m willing to live or die for Him.

-Ernest Angley

My Journey is a short one; and although I know I may go home by way of the grave, I believe that I will meet Christ in the air in the Rapture.

-Ernest Angley

I have committed everything to the Lord; I have nothing left to give. Whether I live or die, all of my strength and every part of me belongs entirely to Him to use in any way that He desires. I can say with the Apostle Paul, For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand (II Timothy 4:6).

-Ernest Angley

  • Oh my dear mentor and father, if it was within my dominion and authority to bring you back on Earth I would have done that just now because I am what I am today in my spiritual life as a result of you allowing the Lord to use you as a vessel to save me and mentor me for the service of the Lord in his precious vineyard.
I will forever miss you and your services. Thank you for the good testimony you left for us all of what it means to serve the Lord and also for the powerful books and tracks that still speaks to us even now when you are gone to be with the Lord in heaven.
Father, preacher and teacher of God’s word of salvation, may your soul rest in peace and may God continue to comfort all fellow servants of God and brethren in the Lord for the death of our dear father, grandfather and a humble devoted man of God.
    Amen.

  • We will always be thankful to Reverend Angley for all he taught us, the truth he gave us, and the love he showed us.  He always took time to be kind to us.  We will work in unity and love with our Church family and do all we can to help Reverend Machamer and Reverend Millar bring in the final harvest; and then we will all go home and be with our Lord forever.

  • Rev. Angley walked and talked just like Jesus, he was a walking Bible.  He was such a great example of how we are to live for God and I know God is pleased.  I am thankful to Rev. Angley for being a wonderful leader, teacher and Jesus example for myself and my family.  He was caring and so kind, just to think, as large as his congregation was he still took the time to meet with us when we needed him, whether it was a phone call or in- person.  Rev. Angley looked after us as a father would his children, he even helped us raise our kids, gave us wisdom on how to train them up in the Word of God.  I am forever grateful to God for the life that Rev. Angley lived and for all that he has taught us.  We will help Rev. Machamer and Rev. Millar finish the wonderful work that Rev. Angley has started for we know that is what he and Jesus would want us to do.

I miss you Rev. Angley but I’m happy that you are with the Lord and with your wonderful family in Heaven.

  • I was introduced to the ministry at the Omni in Atlanta at the age of 6 or 7. If it had not been for the man of God I’d been an atheist today. Rev. Angley is the real deal. An uncompromising preacher that never backed away from it, one of the many reasons I admired the man. I have not always followed God but I have always respected the truth and God because of this ministry. Let’s get the work done and go on to Heaven to be with Jesus and Rev. Angley.

  • I will miss Rev. Angley so much and because of his sacrifices and dedication,  I will see him again in our eternal home.  Rev. Angley always showed me love, patience and kindness.  He was never too busy if I needed guidance or prayer.  Because of his teachings he has prepared us for this hour, to finish his work and win every last soul we can until Jesus returns.  He has prepared two wonderful ministers, Rev. Machamer and Rev. Millar, to lead us the rest of the journey.  While I am sad that Rev. Angley is no longer with us, I am happy for him and excited for the ministry’s future.  I cannot imagine what the Lord has in store for us.  I love you, Rev. Angley, and I cannot wait until we are all reunited.

  • Because of Reverend Angley paying the price to have the gifts of God in his life, my entire life was changed in 1985 when he prayed for me at the age 0f 16.  I was delivered from a lot of mental torture, and through this Jesus Ministry learned about true salvation and the Holy Ghost baptism.  I found a depth in the Lord I don’t think I ever would have found without the teaching Reverend Angley brought forth.  My life was again changed in 2009 when he prayed for my neck condition, and the Lord straightened 3 discs that were twisted in my neck and putting pressure on my brain stem.  My husband Dave and I loved Rev Angley very much and appreciate every sacrifice he made so that we could have the reality of Jesus in miracles and healings, as well as victory in our daily lives.

  • 10+ years ago, I was a stay at home mom and God/Jesus came into my life very strongly. I would sit home and I went from watching soap operas to watching the Ninety and Nine Club on WBNX and I continued watching, it is on my tv right now actually! I’ll never forget the day I was truly saved. I put my hand on the tv screen as he instructed and prayed the sinners prayer and when he said “Healed! Healed by the blood of Jesus!” my whole entire being, top to bottom, inside out, flooded with this energy that I’ve never felt before and I KNEW it worked, completely changed, THROUGH THE TELEVISION! All I needed was the faith that it would work and I opened myself to his healing & saving powers, I am eternally grateful for him and the life he lived. There is no way anyone could ever say he didn’t please God, I know he did. Thank you so much Rev. Angley, I WILL see you someday and that is because of YOU!

  • I used to go to the buffet at least once a month with my mother on Sundays. The food was so good and healthy, I really miss that. Once on Mother’s Day or some other spring or summer holiday we were in line at the buffet and Reverend Angley came by and we got to shake his hand.  That was great and also the Jesus display in the basement, we walked thru that several times. Also the Raptured play that he opened free to the public a few weekends, we went to that and I think another play also. His whole ministry was such a blessing. Also watching the Ninety and Nine Club was such a blessing throughout my life. He will be greatly missed. He really was such a blessing to the Akron area and abroad also. May he Rest In Peace in heaven.

Angley very much.  Remember God`s way is perfect.  I had a real history with Rev.  I started with him in the early 60`s and was coached on the piano by Angel.  Travelling with him in the late 70`s in the U.S. was something, glad to have had the opportunity.  We sang on the platform for years and I am glad for the time with him.  God Bless all the family, will be praying for you.  Diane Roadman
